Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby is now eligible for the 2026 season after a Texas judge ruled in his favor. This comes after the NCAA deemed him ineligible due to gambling while at Indiana. This shouldn’t be allowed because that undermines the NCAA, and once they rule, it should be final. The Brendan Sorsby case is one of many over the past few years where players break the rules and then find a lawyer and judge to rule in their favor so they can play ball.
Brendan Sorsby
Brendan Sorsby is a Senior quarterback who recently transferred to Texas Tech from the most recent transfer portal. Sorsby has been at Indiana from 2022 to 2024 and then most recently at Cincinnati from 2024 to 2025. During his time at Indiana, he was gambling for his team and then placed bets on other games over his four years in college football.
Sorsby was a good quarterback and would be an asset for Texas Tech this season. While at his last two schools, he had 594 completions for 7208 yards with 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. He would be the starter for the Red Raiders this coming season and would be a big name for them this season.

Big 12
The Big 12 ADs are considering boycotting games against Texas Tech this year after Brendan Sorsby is granted eligibility for th 2026 season. His suspension would be the first two games, and he would return just in time for the Big 12 games. The Big 12 commissioner has made comments about this as well.
His statement says, “The ramifications of today’s ruling are significant and could have broad impacts across college athletics, creating great concern amongst our membership. I’ve been consulting with our key stakeholders and have scheduled meetings with our Conference ADs and Executive Board this week. We are also in touch with Charlie Baker and anticipate the NCAA to appeal the order in the next 24-48 hours. We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation.” This situation has put the schools, the Big 12, and the NCAA into chaos because now they have to fight to keep this sport free of gambling by players.
