The receiving room remains a major priority for the Green Bay Packers, and the franchise continued its offseason investment by agreeing to a lucrative extension with wide receiver Christian Watson. The deal comes just weeks after Green Bay rewarded fellow receiver Jayden Reed, signaling the organization’s commitment to building around quarterback Jordan Love for the foreseeable future.
According to reports, Watson’s new contract is worth $110.5 million over four years and includes a $31 million signing bonus, keeping one of the team’s most explosive playmakers in Green Bay through the end of the decade.
Packers Reward Watson After Strong Return
Watson entered the 2025 season recovering from a torn ACL suffered late in the previous year. After missing the first six games, he returned in impressive fashion, recording 35 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns across his final 10 appearances.
His ability to stretch defenses remained a defining part of Green Bay’s offense. From Week 8 through Week 18, Watson led the NFL in yards per reception, averaging 17.5 yards per catch. More than half of his receptions during that stretch resulted in gains of at least 16 yards, highlighting the big-play element he brings to the offense.
The extension reflects the organization’s confidence that Watson can continue producing at a high level when healthy.
Green Bay’s Receiving Corps Taking Shape
The deal follows the extension signed by Reed earlier this offseason and arrives after Green Bay moved on from both Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks.
With Watson and Reed now under contract long term, the Packers appear poised to feature a receiving trio led by those two veterans alongside Matthew Golden, the club’s 2025 first-round pick.
Watson acknowledged the departures of former teammates but noted that additional opportunities will be available for those remaining on the roster as the offense continues to evolve.
Another Investment Around Jordan Love
The Packers have spent the last two offseasons strengthening the supporting cast around Love, who has established himself as the franchise’s quarterback of the future. Locking up Watson ensures one of his most dangerous downfield targets remains in place for years to come.
Through four NFL seasons, Watson has totaled 133 catches for 2,264 yards and 20 touchdowns. While injuries have occasionally interrupted his development, Green Bay clearly believes his combination of size and speed is worth a significant long-term investment.
With Watson and Reed signed, attention could now shift toward other key contributors, including tight end Tucker Kraft, as the Packers continue shaping a roster built to compete in the NFC.
