Los Angeles Rams 2024 NFL Draft

The Los Angeles Rams did something in the 2024 NFL Draft they haven’t done in a while: pick in the first round. After years of trading away future picks, they finally were able to have a pick on day one. This team was closer to a Super Bowl than many think, but they lost a franchise legend in Aaron Donald this offseason. Did the Rams reload their roster enough to compete again in 2024?

Draft picks

  • Florida State DE Jared Verse (No. 19 overall)
  • Florida State DT Braden Fiske (No. 39)
  • Michigan RB Blake Corum (No. 83)
  • Miami DB Kamren Kinchens (No. 99)
  • Washington State DE Brennan Jackson (No. 154)
  • Clemson DT Tyler Davis (No. 196)
  • Stanford K Joshua Karty (No. 209)
  • Texas WR Jordan Whittington (No. 213)
  • Arkansas C Beaux Limmer (No. 217)
  • Kansas State OT KT Leveston (No. 254)

The Los Angeles Rams focused heavily on the defensive line in the draft. They took the loss of Aaron Donald very seriously. While there is no replacing Donald, they added depth pieces to hopefully mitigate the loss. Four out of the ten picks came on the defensive line with another pick being in the defensive backfield. This is a young group and the Rams are looking to add depth.

Best Pick Of The Class: RB Blake Corum

The Los Angeles Rams love to run the ball. When Kyren Williams is on the field, he has been one of the best backs in football. However, Sean McVay loves to work his running backs hard, which has led to Williams’s injuries in his first two seasons. Corum provides another reliable three-down back for this offense.

He can take some of the workload off of Williams and keep both of them healthy. Fantasy football managers hate this pick as it makes the Rams’ backfield more difficult to predict, but for fans, this is a solid pick that gives the offense some insurance.

Most Questionable Pick In The Draft: DT Braden Fiske

The video of Fiske getting picked is amazing. Finding out that he will continue to play with his Florida State teammate Jared Verse and getting to talk to him personally as he is getting drafted is a great social media video. However, I question the pick. They traded up 13 spots and gave up future picks in order to get him. Fiske had a solid year, but they likely could have waited and grabbed him in the 50s.

Obviously, teams have more info than I do, but it seems like a lot to give up for a possible rotational piece. Again, the story is amazing, and I will watch that video at least three more times this week. However, the pick doesn’t feel like good value to me. Also, they drafted a kicker. That’s always questionable to me.

Most Interesting Pick: DB Kamren Kinchens

Kinchens has been all over draft boards, and the Los Angeles Rams were able to get him at no. 99 overall. The safety out of Miami is a ball-hawking, downhill safety which is something the Los Angeles Rams lacked last year. He is another great addition to this young defense and he has the potential to be one of the steals of the draft if he develops.

Overall, the Los Angeles Rams did a solid job in the 2024 NFL Draft. They rebuilt their defensive line and added some quality depth pieces. Nothing feels like a home run pick, but this draft looks like a solid class.
