Los Angeles Rams 2024 NFL Draft Needs

The Los Angeles Rams need to draft the following positions: DL, DB, TE, K

The Rams did make the playoffs this year, but there are still positions of need. The kicker situation this season was not great. It is a risk drafting a kicker, but it is worth the risk. The team also needs help at the defensive back position. Better defensive backs could have altered the finale of the Wild Card game for the Rams. The Rams also need help on the defensive line, and drafting a good edge rusher could be huge for them. They have defensive tackle Aaron Donald of course, but he needs help and is aging. He will play in 2024, but the team needs to develop younger players.

The Rams did well drafting Puka Nacua, but a young tight end to throw to could be a big help. It should also be remembered that Tyler Higbee tore his ACL in the Wild Card round. They will need a player in his place. Something else to consider is the quarterback position. If some of the top quarterbacks start to fall, it would not be a bad idea to pick one up.

Mock Draft Analysis

When it comes to selecting players, this mock draft came down to selecting the best available in each position. Chop Robinson from Penn State could fall into the second round, but would not make it to the 52nd pick. There are a decent number of tight ends that can fall, which is why taking a tight end in the second round is useful. Of course, this mock does not involve trades which adds to the selections.

Dropping down to the fifth round, the Rams select kicker Joshua Karty, from Stanford. Drafting a rookie is a risk, but with three fifth-round picks, it does not hurt to take that risk. The team needs a kicker, and unless they grab a veteran, they will draft one. Waiting until pick 216 for a quarterback may be pushing it. Last year, the Rams selected Stetson Bennett. Joe Milton is much younger and can utilize the time learning from Mathew Stafford. This could be a pick for the future, but if some quarterbacks start to fall, maybe don’t be surprised if the Rams take one earlier.

Anything can happen between now and the draft. Free agency is first, and between veteran signings and trades, draft needs can be very different come April.
