The Miami Dolphins have secured another cornerstone of their roster, agreeing to a three-year, $51.3 million contract extension with All-Pro linebacker Jordyn Brooks, according to ESPN. The deal includes $35 million in guaranteed money and keeps one of the NFL’s top defensive playmakers in Miami for the foreseeable future.
Brooks becomes the third key Dolphins player to receive a multiyear extension this offseason, following new deals for running back De’Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer.
Brooks Rewarded After All-Pro Season
The extension comes on the heels of a career-best campaign for Brooks, who led the NFL with 183 total tackles and 99 solo tackles while earning first-team All-Pro honors for the first time.
Since joining Miami in 2024 after four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, Brooks has recorded more tackles than any player in the league over the past two seasons.
The new contract makes him the NFL’s sixth-highest-paid inside linebacker by both total value and average annual salary.
Dolphins Lock Up Their Defensive Leader
First-year general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan identified Brooks as one of the franchise’s three foundational players earlier this offseason, alongside Achane and Brewer, and publicly stated his goal of signing all three to long-term extensions.
Despite ongoing negotiations, Brooks participated in the Dolphins’ offseason program and made it clear he never considered staying away from the team.
“For me, I know I need to get better as a player, so that’s why I show up,” Brooks said during offseason workouts. “I never want to give the wrong message to my teammates.”
Beyond his production on the field, Brooks served as a team captain in 2025 and received the Dolphins’ Don Shula Leadership Award for his impact in the locker room.
Miami Enters Camp With Core Under Contract
With Brooks, Achane and Brewer all signed to long-term deals, the Dolphins will report to training camp without any major contract distractions involving their core players.
Brooks is expected to anchor a talented linebacker group that also includes veteran Tyrel Dodson and 2026 second-round pick Jacob Rodriguez.
Attention could now shift to left tackle Patrick Paul, who appears to be the next logical candidate for a contract extension as Miami continues building around its young core.
