The Miami Dolphins announced a major leadership shakeup Tuesday, naming Daniel Sillman as CEO of Ross Sports & Entertainment while longtime president and CEO Tom Garfinkel steps down after 13 years.
Sillman will also oversee the Dolphins’ football operations, with head coach Jeff Hafley, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and vice president of football operations Brandon Shore now reporting directly to him.
The move marks a significant organizational shift as owner Stephen Ross continues to position Sillman for a larger leadership role within the franchise.
Sillman Takes Charge of Football Operations
Sillman, 37, is the co-founder and executive chairman of Relevent Sports and is married to Ross’ daughter, Kimberly. He has become increasingly involved with the Dolphins in recent years, including leading the team’s search for a new head coach and general manager this offseason.
In announcing the promotion, Ross praised Sillman’s experience and vision for the organization.
“Danny’s deep familiarity with the organization’s businesses, combined with his experience building globally recognized sports and media companies, uniquely positions him to lead Ross Sports & Entertainment into its next phase of operation.”
Ross Sports & Entertainment will oversee the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open and the Precision Drive Club under one umbrella.
Sillman has negotiated several major international sports media rights agreements during his time with Relevent Sports, including multibillion-dollar deals involving LaLiga, UEFA and other global football properties.
Garfinkel Leaves CEO Role After 13 Years
Garfinkel joined the Dolphins in 2013 and transformed the organization into one of the NFL’s premier sports and entertainment businesses.
During his tenure, he oversaw the privately funded $550 million renovation of Hard Rock Stadium and helped bring the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Open to the venue. He also played a key role in securing the 2020 Super Bowl, the 2021 and 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship games and seven matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although stepping away from day-to-day responsibilities, Garfinkel will remain with the organization as vice chairman of the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, as well as a managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix.
Dolphins Prepare for a New Era
The promotion further solidifies Sillman’s role in the Dolphins’ long-term future. Stephen Ross has previously indicated that Sillman, along with daughters Kimberly and Jennifer Ross, will help lead the franchise in the years ahead.
With football operations now reporting directly to Sillman and Ross Sports & Entertainment consolidating the organization’s growing portfolio, the Dolphins are entering a new chapter both on and off the field.
