The Leaders for BYU Football has been announced for the 2023 season. The Captains are voted by players and coaches from the team. BYU players below have played a big role in their time at BYU or other universities and are ready to lead the Cougars to a successful season on and off the field.

Tyler Batty DE
A 6-5 237 lbs junior defensive end from Payson, Utah. Last season he played in 12 games with 52 tackles, one forced fumble, and four quarterback hits. He has been named to the Wuerffel Trophy preseason watchlist.
Ben Bywater LB
A 6-3 235 lbs junior linebacker from Salt Lake City, Utah. Bywater played in all 13 games with 98 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, one touchdown, and two pass breakups. He is on the Butkus, and the Bedinark trophy watchlists ahead of what should be another huge season.
Eddie Heckard CB
Heckard is a 5-10 190 lbs senior cornerback from Las Vegas, Nevada. He didn’t play in 2022 due to an injury at Weber State. Heckard is on the Phil Steele Preseason All-Big 12 Fourth team.
Connor Pay OL/C
Connor Pay is a 605 312 junior offensive lineman from Highland, Utah. Pay played in all 13 games last season. He is on the Rimington Trophy watchlist. Cougar fans will see him at either the Center or at the Offensive line.
Isaac Rex TE
He is a 6-6 255 lbs junior tight end from San Clemente, California. Rex played in 13 games with 22 receptions for 320 yards and six touchdowns. He is on the John Mackey Award watchlist and the Phil Steele Preseason All-Big 12 Fourth Team.
Kedon Slovis QB
Slovis is a 6-3 215 lbs senior quarterback from Scottsdale, Arizona. Last Season at Pittsburgh he had 184 completions for 2,397 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List.
Kingsley Suamataia OL
Kingsley Suamataia is a 6-6 325 lbs sophomore from Orem, Utah. In the 2022 season, he played in 12 games for the Cougars. He is on the All-Big 12 team for the Big 12 media and College Football News, and the Outland Trophy watch list.
AJ Vongphachanh
He is a 6-3 235 lbs senior from Pasco, Washington. Vongphachanh had 101 tackles, three pass deflections, and two fumbles for the Aggies.
