The NFL offseason delivered another seismic move as the Los Angeles Rams are finalizing a blockbuster trade to acquire star pass rusher Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.

According to multiple reports, Cleveland will receive standout young edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and additional draft compensation that is still being finalized.

The deal sends one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players to a franchise known for making aggressive, win-now moves.

Rams Go All-In Again

The trade fits a familiar pattern for Los Angeles.

The Rams famously acquired Matthew Stafford before the 2021 season and went on to win a Super Bowl in their home stadium. With Super Bowl LXI scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles appears determined to maximize another championship window.

Adding Garrett gives the Rams one of the league’s most feared defenders and instantly strengthens an already talented defensive front.

The seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time Defensive Player of the Year has consistently ranked among the NFL’s elite pass rushers and remains in the prime of his career.

Browns Pivot Toward the Future

For Cleveland, the move signals a major organizational shift.

The Browns spent months insisting Garrett was not available after signing him to a record-setting extension earlier this offseason. However, the team later restructured the contract, making a future trade more manageable and ultimately paving the way for the deal.

By acquiring Verse and significant draft capital, Cleveland adds a young cornerstone defender while also improving its long-term flexibility.

Verse emerged as one of the NFL’s most promising young edge rushers and now becomes a centerpiece of the Browns’ defensive rebuild.

Garrett Gets His Wish

Garrett had repeatedly emphasized his desire to compete for a championship after several disappointing seasons in Cleveland.

The trade places him on a roster widely viewed as a Super Bowl contender and reunites him with a front office led by general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay, both known for aggressive roster-building strategies.

For the Rams, the message is clear: the franchise believes its championship window is open now and is willing to sacrifice future assets to chase another Lombardi Trophy.

For the Browns, the focus shifts toward building around younger talent and the draft capital acquired in one of the biggest defensive trades in NFL history.
