The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will take on the Michigan Wolverines on Oct. 31, and the kickoff time has officially been announced.
Rutgers and Michigan will kick off at 12:30 p.m. EST at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
The two teams have not played each other since the 2023 season, and it will be the first time Michigan travels to play Rutgers since 2022.
Last Time Rutgers Defeated Michigan
It has been quite some time since the Scarlet Knights defeated the Wolverines. In 2014, Rutgers hosted Michigan, and not only did they defeat the Wolverines, the Scarlet Knights earned their first ever Big Ten conference win.
Rutgers won the game 26-24, with quarterback Gary Nova passing for 404 yards and three touchdowns. Despite rushing for just 74 total yards, the Scarlet Knights found a way to take down Michigan.
Defensively, Rutgers limited Michigan to 178 passing yards, with Devin Gardner at quarterback for the Wolverines. Gardner also threw one interception.
This was a big win for the Scarlet Knights, as they joined the Big Ten in 2014. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Knights, since then, Michigan has continued to dominate against Rutgers.
Rutgers holds a 1-9 record against the Wolverines, looking to snap the losing streak on Oct. 31.

Rutgers Earns Second Win
Rutgers is coming off their second win of the season, which also happens to be their first conference win of 2026. Rutgers defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 37-30, showing true grit until the end.
Quarterback Dylan Lonergan went 23-of-35 for 291 yards. He also had three touchdown passes and threw one interception. Turnovers have been an issue for the Scarlet Knights offense, and limiting them to one turnover helped lead to a Scarlet Knights win.
This season, Lonergan has passed for 1,066 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions. The team’s leading receiver is wide receiver KJ Duff, who continues to be a brightspot of the offense. Duff has racked up 741 receiving yards and nine touchdown receptions.
On the ground, the offense is led by running back Antwan Raymond, with 105 carries for 498 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Clay Thevenin is coming off a strong performance, in which he had 109 rushing yards and one touchdown against Maryland.
Michigan Finds Ways to Win
The Michigan Wolverines have had their struggles this season, but hold a 4-2 record. The Wolverines are coming off a win against Penn State, 21-18, and the team made a big position change.
Quarterback Bryce Underwood started the game, but after throwing two interceptions in the first half, he was replaced by Tommy Carr. Carr finished the game going 5-of-7 for 47 yards, and one rushing touchdown.
Michigan’s defense also did its job, forcing two interceptions and earning three sacks. While it was not a pretty game, the Wolverines found a way to win and improve their record.
Before facing Rutgers, the Wolverines have a tough matchup against the No. 6 Indiana Hoosiers.
Before Kickoff vs. Michigan
Before Rutgers hosts the Michigan Wolverines, the Scarlet Knights have a big matchup on the road against the No. 24 Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern is 5-1 this season, with their lone loss coming against Indiana. Despite losing, the Wildcats kept it close, with the final score being 29-23.
Northwestern will host Rutgers on Oct. 24 at 12 p.m. EST, as the Scarlet Knights seek the upset.
