The Baltimore Ravens will be without quarterback Lamar Jackson for a second consecutive game after head coach Jesse Minter ruled him out of Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Jackson continues to recover from a left ankle sprain sustained during Baltimore’s Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 4. He missed all three practices this week, ending hopes that he might return for the divisional matchup.
Backup Tyler “Snoop” Huntley will start again for the Ravens, who enter Week 6 with a 4-1 record and a one-game lead atop the AFC North.
Minter said the decision to hold Jackson out was made with the quarterback’s long-term health in mind.
“I think it’s just a decision for his best interest,.” Minter said. “And that’s really what every decision’s always going to be about.”
Huntley Looks to Extend Winning Run
Huntley delivered a strong finish in Baltimore’s 30-23 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday. He completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, while adding a rushing touchdown.
The quarterback also extended his run of success as Jackson’s replacement. Huntley has won his past three starts, helping Baltimore average 33.7 points per game across those victories.
Since the start of the 2025 season, Huntley has posted a 79.7 QBR and a 77.8% completion rate among quarterbacks with at least three starts, according to ESPN.
“We won’t bat an eye with Snoop being in there,.” Minter said.
Running back Derrick Henry also backed Huntley while emphasizing that the team wants Jackson fully healthy before he returns.
“Of course we want L out there, but we also want L to be healthy and be ready whenever he’s ready,.” Henry said. “Our job is just to hold it down until he gets back. Snoop’s doing a heck of a job.”
Ravens Make Additional Injury Adjustments
Baltimore will also be without center Cam Jurgens, who remains in concussion protocol after joining the team in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 7. Tight end Matthew Hibner has also been ruled out with a hand injury.
Rookie first-round pick Olaivavega Ioane will make his third consecutive start at center after previously opening the season at right guard.
Minter expressed confidence in the offensive line despite the absences and said the team would welcome Jurgens back when he is ready to return.
The Ravens now turn their attention to Cleveland, where Huntley will face a Browns team coached by Todd Monken, Baltimore’s offensive coordinator for the previous three seasons.
Jackson’s continued absence also extends his run of missing multiple games in a season, making his recovery an important storyline as Baltimore looks to maintain its position atop the division.
