The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to sign former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat to a free-agent contract, according to a report from ESPN.
The deal awaits completion pending a physical examination.
Peat’s Profile and Versatility
Standing tall at 6-foot-7 and weighing 316 pounds, Peat, a three-time Pro Bowler at left guard with experience at left tackle, brings valuable experience and depth to the Raiders’ offensive line.
Raiders’ Offensive Line Depth
While the Raiders boast starters Kolton Miller at left tackle, Dylan Parham at left guard, and Andre James at center, the right guard and right tackle positions are open competitions. The team further bolstered its lineup by signing veteran guard Cody Whitehair in free agency and drafting Oregon center/guard Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 44 and Maryland offensive tackle Delmar Glaze at No. 77. Thayer Munford Jr., in his third year, returns as the right tackle.
Peat’s Impact and Performance
Peat, selected as the No. 13 pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of Stanford by the Saints, started 102 games for New Orleans and earned Pro Bowl honors in three consecutive seasons from 2018 to 2020.
In 2023, Peat accepted a reduced salary with the Saints, intending to compete for his starting role at left guard. Despite losing his spot to veteran James Hurst, Peat demonstrated his versatility by filling in at left tackle when second-year left tackle Trevor Penning was sidelined early in the season. He started 11 games at left tackle and one game at left guard due to injuries.
During last season, Peat maintained an impressive pass block win rate of 85.3%, according to ESPN Stats & Information research, while conceding four sacks. He also boasted an 81.0% run block win rate.
Peat’s father, Todd Peat, played as a guard for the Raiders in 1990, 1992, and 1993, during the franchise’s time in Los Angeles.
