Penn State offensive tackle, Olu Fashanu suffered an injury on Sunday at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Following his first 40, he ended up missing the remainder of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. After sustaining the injury, he did say that he hopes to be okay for his Pro Day with Penn State. That will take place on March 15th. Here is a look at what happened at the Combine.
Olu Fashanu Suffers Injury
Fashanu is a big name entering the 2024 NFL Draft. If there is one way to describe this draft, it is that the positions are stacked this year, especially with offensive linemen. Fashanu is a top draft pick, potentially a top ten. That will also depend on how fast other positions are taken. He was a player to watch entering the Combine, but when he ran the first 40, he suffered a right thigh injury. After that first 40, his day was done. His numbers were 1.77 for the first ten yards and 5.11 for the overall 40.
Combine Still Worth It
Fashanu’s combine was cut short, but he still earned the chance to attend. He had the opportunity to know coaches, GMs, and other scouts, a big part of the Combine. It is a shame that he could not show his footwork and other mechanics. The good news is that he will be able to showcase that at the Pro Day. NFL teams have still been able to see what he can do during games and now have the chance to get to know him.
He still had the chance to do the broad jump, which he measured at 9’11”. His vertical jump reached 32.00″, according to The Draft Network on X. Fashanu still got to participate in a lot during the Combine, just not the on-field workouts. The injury should not hurt his draft stock, especially if he is good to go for the Penn State Pro Day. Fans should still watch for his name to be called on day one of the NFL Draft.

Next up is the Penn State Pro Day. It will take place on March 15th, according to Stacey Dales. Fashanu and other Penn State players heading into the 2024 NFL Draft will get a chance to showcase their abilities one more time before the draft. The 2024 NFL draft will take place Apil 25th-27th.
