Next up in the draft process is the Ohio State Pro Day. This is when players can get one more chance to show off their skills to NFL scouts. They can also potentially improve their draft stock if they impress. The Ohio State Pro Day will take place on March 20th.
Ohio State Pro Day Information
There are numerous players to expect to participate in the Ohio State Pro Day. Of course, Marvin Harrison Jr. will be the top player to watch, but others will be looking to improve their draft stock. Here is a look at the potential participants and their draft projections.
Marvin Harrison Jr – WR
Wide receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr. did not participate in the combine and chose to wait for the Pro Day. Harrison is the top non-quarterback prospect in this year’s NFL Draft. He is expected to be the first player taken who is not a quarterback. In his three seasons with Ohio State, Harrison had 155 receptions for 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. He has also rushed the ball four times for 58 yards and one touchdown.
An interesting update as of March 20th, the day of the Pro Day. Marvin Harrison Jr. is no longer working out at the Ohio State Pro Day.
Miyan Williams – RB
Running back Miyan Williams may be present at the Ohio State Pro Day, but do not expect him to run drills. Williams spent four years at Ohio State and will now be heading to the NFL. In four years, Williams has had 258 rushing attempts for 1,555 yards and 20 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. He also had 18 receptions for 143 yards.
Williams only played in six games in 2023 after suffering a knee injury. At the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Williams said he expects to be good to go by training camp. Expect Williams to fall to the seventh round or go undrafted. This is due to the knee injury plus the position naturally falling in the draft.
Cade Stover – TE
Tight end Cade Stover will be participating in this year’s Pro Day. Stover spent five years with the Buckeyes. In his five years, he had 82 receptions for 1,058 yards and ten touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. Stover will be a name to watch during rounds three and four of the NFL Draft. Round four may be more realistic, but it will depend on how quickly the position is going.
Matthew Jones – OG
Offensive lineman, Matthew Jones is heading to the NFL after six seasons with the Buckeyes. Jones is expected to go undrafted in this year’s draft, according to NFL Draft Buzz. Jones has solid footwork and great balance but is more of a run blocker. He does well when pushing forward. Jones can improve his draft position using the Ohio State Pro Day.
Michael Hall Jr. – DT
Defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. is heading to the NFL after three seasons with Ohio State. In three years, he had 45 total tackles, ten tackles for loss, and six sacks, according to Sports Reference. He also has had one fumble recovery. Hall is an explosive pass rusher that any team in need of depth could use. His current draft projection is in the third round.
Tommy Eichenberg – LB
Linebacker Tommy Eichenberg is heading to the NFL after four seasons with the Buckeyes. In four years he has had 288 total tackles, 151 solo, 21 tackles for loss, and three sacks, according to Sports Reference. He has also had two interceptions, one returning for a touchdown, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Eichenberg is a strong player when it comes to defending the run game and putting pressure on quarterbacks. He can improve on his change of direction and man coverage though. Currently, Eichenberg is a fifth-round draft projection, though can go earlier. Any team can use him as solid depth and help develop him into a starter.
Steele Chambers – LB
Another linebacker to expect at the Ohio State Pro Day is Steele Chambers. The linebacker has spent five years with the Buckeyes and now heading to the NFL. In his five seasons, he has had 208 total tackles, 114 solo, 13 tackles for loss, and three sacks, according to Sports Reference. He has also had four interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown. Chambers will likely fall to day three of the draft. He is an explosive player who needs to work on finishing his tackles. In the right spot, Chambers can develop into a strong linebacker in the NFL.
Josh Proctor – S
After six seasons with Ohio State, safety Josh Proctor is heading to the NFL. In those years, he has had 112 total tackles, 75 solo, 6.5 tackles for loss, and one sack, according to Sports Reference. He also has had three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, and one fumble recovery. Proctor is a strong player but is expected to go undrafted in this year’s draft.
Ja’Had Carter – S
After four years of college football, safety Ja’Had Carter is heading to the NFL. He spent three years with Syracuse and one with Ohio State. In four years, Carter has had 141 total tackles, 99 solo, and 3.5 tackles for loss, according to Sports Reference. He has also had one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a touchdown. He is another player who as of now is expected to go undrafted.
The Ohio State Pro Day will take place on March 20th. The players will also have time to schedule pre-draft visits with various NFL teams. After that, it’s the 2024 NFL Draft. The draft will take place April 25th-27th
