3 Of The Juiciest Storylines Heading Into The NFL Draft

It is NFL draft week! After months of mock drafts, player analysis, and full-scale arguments we will finally know where each player lands a week from now. This season especially there seems to be no shortage of great storylines heading into the draft. Here are three of the juiciest storylines heading into the NFL draft.

Storylines For The NFL Draft

I am only involving stories that pertain to the draft itself. For example, I suppose there is a chance that a Lamar Jackson trade/signing happens that involves draft picks but more likely than not, that is a juicy storyline that doesn’t involve the draft. These will be draft specific.

What Do The Houston Texans Do?

I think the most fascinating team in the draft is the Houston Texans. A couple of months ago, it was a lock that they would be drafting a quarterback at number two overall. Now, that is far from a guarantee. There have been some rumors that they will pass on a quarterback at two and take one of the top defensive players. If they do that, how do they address the quarterback position? Does someone fall to 12? Do they use their top second-round pick (33 overall) and maybe try and get a Trey Lance? Do they pass altogether and ride with Davis Mills? A team that seemed very ho-hum a month ago is now one of the most interesting storylines in the NFL draft.

How Far Will CJ Stroud Fall, If At All?

The reports in the past week have not been good for Stroud. After reportedly failing the S2 cognitive test, teams have soured on him. However, some are claiming this is all smoke to try and get him to fall. Regardless, any time there is potential that a quarterback can fall it has to be one of the best storylines for the NFL draft. There’s a chance that Stroud does not fall at all and goes in the top five. However, there is also a chance that he continually slips and ends up in the late first round. If that happens, could a team like the Minnesota Vikings luck into a future quarterback?

Where Will Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs Be Taken?

Maybe this is as juicy as the previous two but I think where these backs get taken is fascinating. Running back is not a position that many teams want to invest a first-round pick in. However, the hype around Robinson especially has me excited to see what team takes him. Does Atlanta add to their devastating rushing attack? Do the Eagles add another premium offensive weapon? Do these two fall in the draft and get taken by a Super Bowl contender like the Bills or Chiefs? Some team is going to make a big swing with these two and it will be fun to see where they end up.

Those are the three storylines that I am most excited about for the upcoming NFL draft. There are a thousand more that are just as intriguing and this year’s draft is shaping up to be one of the craziest ever. The first round especially could see multiple trades with teams looking to move around the board. Thursday is a can’t miss event for any NFL fan.
