Hinckley Ropati is out for the 2023 season with a Knee injury. It was confirmed on Monday that he will not be available this season. BYU has now taken a blow to the offensive side of the ball no he wasn’t going to start this season at running back but he was going to be a solid backup and used in certain situations.

Hinckley Ropati is 5-10 215 lbs from Downey California. He will be a good starter or a great backup on game days. Ropati rushed for 15 yards in 2021. In 2022 he rushed for 189 yards and one touchdown. He was seen a lot at the end of the 2022 season as he stepped up to fill that starting running back role. Ropati helped win some games near the end of the season. He also was able to put yards when the wide receivers were struggling to make catches.

This is another big blow to BYU Football after losing Micah Harper on the defensive side. Ropati would’ve been used on game days a tone after his performance to finish out last season. This will mean Aidan Robbins, Miles Davis, Deion Smith, Nukuluve Helu, Enoch Nawahine, LJ Martin, and Chase Hopkins to run the ball this season. The run game for the Cougars is going to have to make a difference on offense this year. It will have to be utilized more than in years past and also will need to keep drives alive.

  1. That’s a big blow but we should still be okay. Thanks for the information. Hopefully we can minimize the injuries this year.
