If you had the New York Giants erasing a 28-7 deficit on your 2023 bingo card, you can cross it off now.

Yesterday afternoon in Arizona was initially viewed as a stinker. After the Giants fell behind 21-0, and eventually 28-7, it was all but over by halftime. But the Giants rallied, and ended up slowly inching back. They would tie the game at 28 in the fourth quarter and go on to win it late in that quarter by a score of 31-28.

With 18 seconds left in the game, the Giants took the lead on a field goal, sending them to victory. The game marked the first time since 1949 that the Giants came back down 21 points. It also marked the first time they came back to win a game after trailing by 20 or more points since 1950.

Erasing the Deficit

The team initially looked terrible, initially falling behind 21-0. After getting destroyed in Week 1 by the Cowboys 40-0, their point differential stood at -61. But to their credit, the Giants erased that deficit, and now sit at 1-1 going into Week 3. Meanwhile, Arizona (who are expected to be one of the bottom teams in the NFL this year) sits at 0-2.

The Giants’ victory did not come without a sacrifice, however. Running back Saquon Barkley, a major component of this Giants team, suffered an ankle injury. He was forced to exit the game, and tests are being done on him as of this publication.

“It’s always tough to see anyone go down, especially Saquon.” Daniel Jones said. “He’s a huge piece of what we’re doing. He’s an important player on the team. So I know he’ll work hard to get back, get through whatever he is going through. Look forward to having him back as soon as possible.”

Barkley’s injury is not expected to be serious. However, he will most likely miss the next game on Thursday versus the 49ers.
