The New York Giants are preparing for their final NFL preseason game vs. the crosstown rival Jets. The team announced earlier today that they have released their unofficial depth chart for the game. The depth chart lists all players available for the game, which will be on Saturday at 6 p.m. Eastern. Notable listings include quarterback Daniel Jones, running back Saquon Barkley, and wide receiver Darius Slayton, among others.

Progress at Training Camp

Slayton himself looked great during Giants training camp yesterday morning, catching back-to-back touchdown passes from Jones in the red zone. Tight end Darren Waller also had four catches, and wide receiver Jalin Hyatt caught a catch from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor. This occurred despite Hyatt walking with a slight limp moments earlier, but he seemed to be fine during practice.

Notable players on the Giants, wide receiver Sterling Shepard and defensive tackle Leonard Williams, did not partake in practice yesterday. However, it has been confirmed that it was just a rest day for the duo, and they are listed in the depth chart.

A Scary Situation

During practice earlier today, August 23rd, a scary situation unfolded. Tight end Tommy Sweeney was carted off the field after suffering a medical emergency. The details of the event are unknown to the public, but the Giants have released a statement. They claim that Sweeney is “under the care of medical professionals in the Giants athletic training room. He is stable, alert, and conversant.”

As of this point, Sweeney is listed on the depth chart, but it is doubtful he will play this weekend. It is important to keep in mind that the depth chart is just a list of available players, and does not necessarily mean that they will play in the game. In all likelihood, some notable players will be absent for the final preseason game.

When the Giants’ season officially starts on September 10 at home versus the rival Cowboys, expect all of the biggest stars to play if eligible.
