Offensive tackle for the New York Giants, Evan Neal, has rescinded his atrocious comments.

The seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft was eviscerated by the media following his comments after the Giants’ loss to the Seahawks. That game saw the Giants get blown out 24-3 at home, and as a result, the fans booed the team off the field. Neal was asked about this after the game and gave a brutally honest answer.

“Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep?” Neal told reporters. “The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?”

Neal essentially called the fans “hamburger flippers,” viewing them as less important than him because they booed the pathetic performance of the team. Neal went on to call the fans “fair weather,” disgracing the large group of people who are the very reason the team exists.

Don La Greca Rant

The comments were not taken lightly by the media, either. Don La Greca of The Michael Kay Show, a sports talk radio show on ESPN and simulcast on the YES Network, ripped Neal.

“I’d rather have a guy that’s flipping hamburgers block than your piece of garbage ass,” La Greca yelled on air. “Who the hell are you to talk to fans like that, you piece of garbage? These Giants fans were here before you, and they’ll be here after your sorry ass is cut. What a piece of human trash.”

The following day, Neal would apologize for his comments. “I’m remorseful,” he said. “I definitely could have used a better choice of words. Coming from humble beginnings myself, I never wanted to belittle anyone, regardless of their financial status or occupation. So I really wanted to apologize for what I said.”

“I think that Evan made a statement. We spoke,” Giants head coach Brian Daboll said. “I know he was very remorseful, regretful for the comment that he made. And we’re moving on.”

The Giants currently sit at 1-3, and have a tough schedule coming up. Having been outscored 64-3 at home this season, Big Blue could easily sit at 1-5 when it’s all said and done. As of this point, the 2023 Giants season is exposing cracks in the foundation, and is shaping up to be a huge disappointment compared to last year.
