Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders in London because of a groin injury, adding to the team’s concerns at wide receiver.

Allen was limited in Thursday’s practice after the injury surfaced and did not participate in Friday’s walk-through. The 34-year-old has recorded 13 receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown through three games, ranking second on the team in receiving yards behind Josh Downs.

Colts Lose Another Receiver To Injury

Allen’s absence further weakens a Colts receiving corps already missing Alec Pierce. Pierce remains on injured reserve with a heel injury and must miss at least three more games before he can return.

Ashton Dulin also entered the weekend with an ankle injury after missing the Colts’ previous two games. However, he returned to practice and was a full participant Friday, giving Indianapolis a chance to have him available against Washington.

The Colts also signed Darius Slayton earlier this month after the New York Giants released him. Slayton was inactive for last week’s game but could make his Colts debut in London.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine Elevated For London Game

Indianapolis responded to Allen’s absence by elevating veteran wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine from the practice squad for Sunday’s matchup. Westbrook-Ikhine also joined the active roster for the Colts’ 19-17 victory over the Houston Texans last week.

Westbrook-Ikhine, 29, gives Indianapolis another experienced option alongside Downs, Laquon Treadwell, Deion Burks and Anthony Gould.

Allen had six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over Houston. He joined the Colts on a one-year contract in August after spending the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears and most of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Allen’s Absence Adds To Colts’ Offensive Challenge

Allen has 1,068 career receptions for 12,151 yards and 71 touchdowns across 174 games. The six-time Pro Bowl selection has remained a key target for Indianapolis early in the season, making his absence another challenge for the offense.

The Colts will face a Washington team that enters the matchup at 1-2, while Indianapolis is also 1-2. The Week 4 game will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of the NFL’s London schedule.
