Chop Robinson Combine

Penn State breeds defensive players. Even the later-round picks turn into solid players in the league, and there is a chance that Robinson is the next former Nittany Lion to be a beast in the NFL.

Heading into the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Robinson was already deemed a first-round pick. There is the idea that it is always a possibility that players fall, and Robinson could fall to the early portion of round two. Now the chance of him falling to round two. As known, players who opt to participate in the workouts run the 40. While for linemen the first ten yards are more important than the 40, the edge rusher ran a 4.48. This is an exceptional time, especially for a player that already is a first-round talent.

The other drills also went well for the edge rusher. Through the workout, Robinson was able to showcase his explosiveness and footwork. He can change direction quickly, a crucial skill for an edge rusher. A full look at Robinson’s combine can be watched here on YouTube. In the video, they put Robinson in a simulcast with 49ers’ Nick Bosa and Texans’ Will Anderson Jr. This is some great company to be compared to.

Of course, this turned heads and caused a reaction on social media. Fan accounts posted about him being a possible target for their team. Robinson just made this year’s NFL Draft much more interesting, as if it wasn’t already.

Draft Stock Rising?

As previously stated, Robinson entered the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine as a projected first-round draft pick. Now it is more safe to say that he is not expected to drop to the second round. More teams may end up looking at him than originally thought. There is always the possibility that teams are going to look for an edge rusher a little later in the draft but will take the chance and grab him if given the opportunity.

This will be a very interesting draft. Many teams need a quarterback and they may be the priority, which will cause other positions to drop. There may be some surprise picks because those skill players drop lower. One thing to expect is that this former Nittany Lions will be a first-round draft pick.

The 2024 NFL Draft will take place April 25 – April 27. Be sure to watch for Robinson, as he may go fairly quickly now.
