BYU vs Texas Tech this Saturday at 7 pm EST. The Cougars are looking for their fifth win of 2023 can they get it under lights at Lavell Edwards Stadium?

BYU

Offense

The Cougars offense has been a struggle these past couple of games and the BYE Week did them no good. This offense has been out of sync and sloppy. The run game needs to step up and put yards and points up on the board. Kedon Slovis has to complete more than 80% of his throws and put this team on his back. He also has to make the ball catchable for his receivers and not throw it over their head every time. This offense also can’t just execute on third downs and expect to see results all four quarters.

Defense

The Cougar defense has to go back to the basics with tackling and keeping the wide receivers on a short leash. They also need to make stops on third and fourth down to get off the field and put the offense back on it. Finally, the defense has been successful when they get a turnover so a turnover is a must tomorrow.

Special Teams

The special teams will have to do everything to flip the field and keep the Red Raiders on their toes.

Texas Tech

Texas Tech plays at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. The Red Raiders took on the Cougars in 1940 and haven’t met on the Gridiron since.

Offense

The Red Raiders have a strong and heavy run game that dominates the majority of their offense. Texas Tech also has a dual-threat quarterback who can hurt teams with his arm and his legs. BYU has to keep him in the pocket and not let him out.

Defense

This defense is quick to the line of scrimmage and can break through the line so fast it will make Kedon Slovis’s head spin. They struggle to stop the long passing game and their cornerbacks are speedy.
