BYU vs Oklahoma State

BYU vs Oklahoma State to finish out the 2023 season. The Cougars need a win to be bowl-eligible and not finish on a losing streak of five games. BYU could win if they go back to playing like they did against Texas Tech or Arkansas.

BYU

Offense

This offense has been in shambles these past few weeks. The quarterback in Retzlaff is trying to show who he is behind center but no one is helping him out. Starting with the play calling Aaron Roderick needs not to leave so much open and be so obvious on gameday. Next, the wide receivers need to catch the balls that Retzlaff puts in their hands, not just those that require them to go up and get them. The offensive line needs to block and give Retzlaff more than just three seconds to get rid of the ball. Finally, BYU needs to use their Tight Ends and get them involved for extra options in the passing game.

Defense

BYU’s Defense has been struggling to make plays and help the offense out when they can’t be productive. They need to go back to basics when it comes to open-field tackling and not give the runner a second chance to gain more yards. The line needs to put some pressure on the quarterback and not give him all day to throw the ball. Finally, BYU sees the most productive days out of the defense when they cause turnovers so cause some turnovers and maybe put up some points to help the offense out.

Special Teams

This special team is no longer the only put-together unit for the Cougars lately they have been slacking. They need to get back to flipping field positions and giving the defense more field to work with. Next, make those field goals the offense gets all the down there and then gives you the chance to put points on the board. Finally, make tackles, and don’t give the returner an extra 20 yards.
