The 2023 Football Season is just around the corner. With fall camp starting in just a couple of weeks let’s do some position previews for the BYU Football team. Today I will talk about the BYU Defensive Lineman group and the Linebackers will be in the next article.

Tyler Batty

Tyler Batty is a 6-5 273 lbs junior from Payson, Utah. Batty has played three seasons for the Cougars and led the defense last season when others went down with injuries. His first season at BYU he put up 13 tackles, four sacks, and three quarterback hits. The 2021 he had 432 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and two quarterback hits. Last season he had 52 tackles, one forced fumble, and four quarterback hits. Batty will be a starter this fall.

Isaiah Bagnah

Isaiah Bagnah is a 6-4 235 lbs junior from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He transferred from Boise State where he played his first four seasons of college football. His first year he had one tackle. In 2020 he had 12, and three sacks. His 2021 he had 36 tackles, and sacks. Last season he had 10 tackles. Bagnah will bring his talents to the starters of the defensive line.

Blake Mangelson

Blake Mangelson is a 6-5 260 lbs junior from Nephi, Utah. His first season he had five tackles, one quarterback hit. Last year he had 13 tackles, two quarterback hits, and one pass break ups.

Atunaisa Mahe

Atunaisa Mahe is a 6-1 315 lbs senior from West Jordan, Utah. In his first season as a BYU Defensive Lineman he had 22 tackles, two sacks, and two quarterback hits. In 2021 he had 26 tackles, one sack, and one quarterback hit. Last season he had 13 tackles, and one quarterback hits.

Jackson Cravens

Jackson Cravens is a 6-2 305 lbs senior from Provo, Utah. He is another transfer from Boise State. His first season he had no tackles. Cravens in 2020 he had 10 tackles, and one sack. In 2021 he had 36 tackles, one sack, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble. Last Season he had 24 tackles and one sack.

John Nelson

John Nelson is a 6-4 275 lbs junior from Salem, Utah. In 2021 he had 12 tackles, one sack and one pass break up. Last season he had 28 tackles, two quarterback hits, and one pass break up.

Caden Haws

Caden Haws is a 6-2 305 junior from Little Rock, Arkansas. Haws first season he had zero stats. In 2020 he had 15 tackles. His 2021 season he had 31 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one quarterback hit, and two pass break ups. Last season he had 40 tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, and one pass break up.

Michael Daley

Michael Daley is a 6-3 235 lbs sophomore from Alpine, Utah. He has yet to play a game for the Cougars.

John Henry Daley

John Henry Daley is a 6-5 225 lbs freshman from Alpine, Utah.

Logan Lutui

Logan Lutui is a 6-1 255 lbs junior from West Valley City, Utah. He transferred from Weber State. Last season he played in three games and had five tackles.

Aisea Moa

Aisea Moa is a 6-3 245 lbs freshman from North Ogden, Utah. He played in two games last season.

Bodie Schoonover is a 6-4 245 lbs freshman from American Fork, Utah.

Nuuletau Sellesin

Nuuletau Sellesin is a 6-1 247 lbs sophomore from Woods Cross, Utah. He is a Weber State transfer. His first season he played in one game. In 2021 he played in one game. Last season he played in one game with one tackle.

David Latu

David Latu is a 6-4 300 lbs sophomore from Bountiful, Utah. He is a Snow College transfer. Last Season he had 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Bruce Mitchell

Bruce Mitchell is a 6-4 300 lbs sophomore from Kamas, Utah. Last Season he played in seven games with three tackles, and one pass break up.

Joshua Singh is a 6-0 275 lbs sophomore from Orem, Utah. His first season he played in one game. Last Season he played in eight games and one tackle.
