The 2023 Football Season is just around the corner. With fall camp starting in just a couple of weeks let’s do some position previews for the BYU Football team. Today I will talk about the BYU Cornerbacks group and the Special Teams will be in the next article.

Jakob Robinson

Jakob Robinson is a 5-11 170 lbs junior from Orem, Utah. He transferred from Utah State. His first season at BYU he played in 12 games with 29 tackles, three interceptions, and four pass breakups. Last season he played in 13 games with 51 tackles, one interception, one quarterback hit, and five pass breakups. Robinson will be one of the starters this fall for the Cougars.

Eddie Heckard

Eddie Heckard is a 5-10 190 lbs senior from Las Vegas Nevada and a transfer from Weber State. His first season as a Wildcat he played in three games with three tackles. In 2019 he played in 15 games with 62 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, and two fumbles. His third season he played in six games with 30 tackles, one interception, and one fumble. In 2021 he played in 11 games with 48 tackles, one interception, and four fumbles. Heckard will be a great starter this fall as he has played under Jay Hill’s defensive scheme for years.

Kamden Garrett

Kamden Garrett is a 5-11 181 lbs senior from Las Vegas, Nevada and also a transfer from Weber State. Hist first season he played in nine games with 13 tackles, one sack, and two pass deflections. The next season he played in six games with 17 tackles, and three pass deflections. In 2021 he played in nine games with 19 tackles, and three pass deflections. Last season he played in 13 games with 26 tackles, and six pass deflections. Garrett will be the third starter or first backup on the field for the Cougars.

Caleb Christensen

Caleb Christensen is a 5-10 187 lbs junior from Smithfield, Utah. His first season he played in 12 games with five tackles, and one interception. In 2021 he played in seven games with one tackle. Last season he played in seven games with zero tackles. He will be a backup for the BYU Cornerbacks this fall.

Mory Bamba

Mory Bamba is a 6-3 180 lbs junior from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and a transfer from Tyler Junior College. Last season he played in four games with one tackle.

Jacob Boren

Jacob Boren is a 5-9 180 lbs senior from Salt Lake City, Utah. His first season he played in one game. In 2021 he played in 13 games with 20 tackles, and two pass breakups. Last season he played in 11 games with 14 tackles, and one sack.

Dylan Flowers

Dylan Flowers is a 5-11 180 lbs sophomore from Playa del Rey, California and a transfer from SUU. In his first season he played in two games with two tackles. Last season he played in eight games with six tackles.

Marcus McKenzie is a 5-11 172 lbs freshman from St. George, Utah.

Jayden Dunlap

Jayden Dunlap is a 6-0 173 lbs junior from Carson California and a transfer from Cerritos College. Last season he played in 11 games with 12 tackles, and 10 pass breakups.

Quenton Rice

Quenton Rice is a 6-1 195 lbs sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada. Rice has yet to play a game for the Cougars.

Zion Allen

Zion Allen is a 6-1 160 lbs freshman from Stockton, California.
