Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson punched Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb following Monday night’s 37-34 overtime loss, creating another talking point after an already dramatic game.
The incident occurred on the field after the final whistle as players exchanged jerseys. Jackson was trading jerseys with Bills defensive lineman Deone Walker when he appeared to exchange words with Chubb. Jackson then approached the Buffalo linebacker and struck him in the face with his right hand.
Rams tight end Colby Parkinson quickly pulled Jackson away as players and team personnel intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating.
Chubb Addresses Postgame Altercation
Chubb described the incident as an emotional reaction following a closely contested game. Speaking to the California Post in Buffalo’s locker room, he said he allowed Jackson to throw the punch rather than escalate the situation.
“It’s just emotions, you know what I mean? Emotional game. It was a close game,” Chubb said. “And, you know, they always catch the second guy. So, I let him swing. And then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled.”
Chubb declined to provide further details when asked whether Jackson’s punch connected, instead shifting the focus to Buffalo’s next game.
Neither the Rams nor the Bills publicly addressed the altercation immediately afterward. However, Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson reacted to the incident on social media, questioning what action would follow Jackson’s punch.
The confrontation came after Buffalo rallied to secure a 37-34 overtime victory over Los Angeles, with tensions apparently continuing after the game ended.
Jackson Could Face NFL Discipline
The NFL could review the incident to determine whether Jackson violated league rules governing player conduct. However, no disciplinary decision was confirmed in the available reports.
There is precedent for the league suspending players following postgame altercations. Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch received a one-game suspension in 2025 after an altercation with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
Jackson also has a previous disciplinary record. The Rams offensive lineman received a two-game suspension in 2024 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Those precedents do not guarantee a suspension in this case. Any decision would depend on the league’s review of the incident and the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
Rams And Bills Turn Attention To Week 6
The altercation adds an unwanted distraction for the Rams following their narrow overtime defeat. Jackson is Los Angeles’ starting left tackle, making any potential suspension significant for the team’s offensive line.
The Bills, meanwhile, will look to build on their victory when they face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Rams are scheduled to host the Arizona Cardinals.
For now, Jackson’s potential punishment remains uncertain as attention shifts from the postgame confrontation to the upcoming NFL schedule.
