Notre Dame has secured the richest jersey patch sponsorship in college athletics after agreeing to a multiyear partnership with financial services company SoFi Technologies.
The Fighting Irish announced Tuesday that SoFi’s logo will appear on uniforms across every varsity sport beginning this season. The six-year agreement is reportedly worth between $18 million and $20 million annually, surpassing the previous record set earlier the same day by Ohio State.
The partnership also marks the first time a corporate logo will appear on a Notre Dame jersey.
Deal Tops Ohio State’s New Agreement
Notre Dame’s reported annual value edges Ohio State’s new jersey patch partnership with JPMorganChase, which is worth nearly $17 million per year.
The landmark agreements come after NCAA Division I leaders approved corporate uniform patches in January, allowing schools to generate new revenue as athletic departments adapt to the growing financial demands of paying student-athletes.
Teams can now display up to two commercial patches, each measuring no more than four square inches, during regular-season competition.
Partnership Includes Scholarship and Athlete Support
Beyond the record-setting sponsorship, SoFi will create a new $1.4 million annual fund supporting Notre Dame’s “4 for Forever” initiative, which provides scholarships across 26 sports while offering financial education, career development and leadership opportunities for student-athletes.
The company will also fund a full-tuition Champions Scholarship awarded annually to one men’s and one women’s walk-on who demonstrate leadership, resilience, ambition and service.
Athletic director Pete Bevacqua praised the partnership’s broader impact.
“Our ‘4 for Forever’ promise at Notre Dame is paramount to providing the best student-athlete experience in the country. SoFi shares in this commitment to developing strong, ambitious leaders who are set up for success at Notre Dame and beyond.”
Notre Dame Continues Financial Momentum
The agreement further strengthens Notre Dame’s financial position as schools continue exploring new revenue opportunities in the evolving college athletics landscape.
With corporate jersey patches now permitted and the College Football Playoff also evaluating similar sponsorship opportunities for postseason games, major athletic programs will likely continue pursuing lucrative branding deals in the coming years.
