Normally, being a ‘team player’ isn’t something you brag about on podcasts and social media, but Kelly Stafford is unique in that respect. She is walking so other women can soar. Zach Wilson’s ex, Abbey Gile, definitely took notes based on her recent announcement. She didn’t even mention that Zach Wilson slept with his mom’s best friend this time around, either. Gile doesn’t have to. She has changed how the world sees Zach Wilson forever.
Abbey Gile’s Announcement
Abbey Giles engagement to Dax Milne was made public on July 8th. Yes, that Dax Milne. Zach Wilson’s clone, former backup quarterback and roommate at BYU, and current NFL QB for the Washington Commanders, Dax Milne.
Giles marrying the ‘back-up’ took Kelly Stafford’s OG play and then one-upped it. Hopefully, both couples find happiness. Life is short, and marrying someone, despite the drama behind it, could very well be worth it. Abbey, do us a favor and keep your love story off of social media, though. Please!
What Does Kelly Stafford Have To Do With It?
Mrs. Stafford has been awkwardly vocal about her unique method to get her NFL husband to commit. Although every relationship is different, her process is generally not advisable, and it is certainly something that is best left out of the media. However, Kelly Stafford is not one to show great discretion in what she shares via social media. If she hadn’t shared, though, Abbey Giles would not have had the playbook. Silver linings.
So what was the play in the book? Kelly dated Matt Stafford’s backup QB way back in their University of Georgia days. In an interview recently, Stafford shared the couple’s relationship dynamics and her ‘back-up’ plan: “It wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him, I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off, which worked — he was the bad boy too. Matthew’s so sweet and a Southern gentleman and all that stuff. And the backup was the complete opposite, and it upset him.” Aww, young love.
There is nothing like rewarding your sweet Southern gentleman by telling America that embarrassing story. Maybe at least keep that story to yourself when the grandkids ask how grandma and grandpa met. Better yet, just bury that story. It’s not the wildest thing a young person has done to try to juggle a serious relationship. However, when you, your husband, and the backup QB are famous and easily identifiable, there is even more incentive to zip your lips.
Zach Wilson’s Moved On?
It seems like Zach Wilson was never particularly hung up on his ex, Abbey Giles. He apparently cheated on her with his mom’s best friend. A story that lives in infamy. Thanks for creating some of the best NFL lore in recent history, Abbey!
Since the entire mom scandal, Wilson has also moved on with another young lady that most of us can’t tell apart from Ms. Giles. He recently popped the question to Nicolette Dellanno. She’s younger than the NFL quarterback’s typical type, but he seems to think she is the one. Everyone’s mom is safe for now. Most likely.
