With a little over a week until the 2025 NFL league year, it’s never too early to discuss potential movement among some top NFL players.
The moves can’t officially be made until that start date, but why wait till then to prognosticate about it?
So, let’s look at where these Top-Rated NFL players could end up next.
NFL Players End Up Next?
1. Harold Landry III- Titans Outside linebacker
Drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, the 29-year-old was once again one of Tennessee’s most celebrated defenders last season. He was ranked third on the team in total pressures (30) and tied for second in run-play stops (26).
Landry’s missed tackle rate of 6.5 percent earned him the fifth-lowest per 72 edge defenders with at least 500 defensive snaps. He entered his five-year extension in March of 2022 with two years and a $35 million principal salary left.
Projected Team: Washington Commanders
This would make ideal sense for both parties involved. The Titans’ rebuilding process should be heavily focused on continuing to build depth on their young offensive line. They should also find a potential franchise quarterback to replace Will Levis.
Meanwhile, the Commanders have the cap space to sign him and add another defensive piece to help them reach the Super Bowl next year.
2. Myles Garrett- Browns Edge rusher
Out of all the fish and mammals in the sea, Garrett is called the “Killer Whale.” When he shockingly announced he wanted to depart from the Browns, contending teams came a-calling.
While the game-wrecking edge rusher has had it well with the Browns, last year’s (3-14) season convinced Garrett that he wanted to go to a team where he felt he could win a Super Bowl now.
And with the Browns being $22 million over the cap, they have to let him go, which is a tough business decision.
Additionally, he wants to take his 14-sack season the last two years to someone else’s winning camp.
Projected Teams: Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys
Both the Bills and Cowboys make a dream come true situation for Garrett to be in. To begin with, the Bills were one Dalton Kincaid pass away from potentially playing in the Super Bowl.
While the Bills should prioritize the run defense, Garrett doesn’t grow on trees. Join a team like the Bills, win their first Super Bowl, and you’ll be a WNY hero.
As for the Cowboys, he would return home to Arlington, Texas, where he was born. Additionally, you pair him up with Micah Parsons once he’s extended, and you have two wrecking ball pass rushers.
Plus, Jerry Jones isn’t getting any younger.
Nevertheless, both squads will have to work around his $19 million cap hit.
3. Cooper Kupp- Rams Wide receiver
Kupp started off well but then faded away at the end of the season. He only averaged 2.6 receptions and 36 yards receiving while scoring one touchdown during the Rams‘ last seven games.
The Rams owe Kupp a $7.5 million roster bonus due on March 17. Desperation may help the Rams get out of his contract, but it may come with a cheaper offer.
Projected Team: Los Angeles Chargers
Kupp will stay in LA. Just not with the Rams. He’ll be going to the Chargers. Pairing him with Justin Herbert and head coach Jim Harbaugh is just what Herbert may need to make a playoff run in January.
Imagine if Super Bowl 61 in LA featured an all-LA showdown, but Kupp, this time, is playing in a different LA uniform.
4. Jonathan Allen- Commanders Defensive tackle
At 6’3″, 300 lbs, Allen is a big-bodied defensive tackle with impressive athleticism for a player of his size and position.
He is very fast off the line of scrimmage, averaging 40.5 pressures and six sacks per year since competing in the NFL.
Projected Team: Buffalo Bills
The Bills spent huge money on their D-line with Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones. Although they were inconsistent in stopping the run during the regular season, they played much better during their playoff run.
Jones would add more speed to the position and more beef up front, as Oliver only weighs 287 lbs.
If the Bills play their cards right, Allen will stop the run, and Garrett will crush opposing quarterbacks’ wills.
This would be great, as McDermott and DC Bobby Babich want to keep focusing on their man coverage scheme. This would open up lanes for Garrett and Allen to do their thing.
NFL Players End Up Next?
While these are some of the top-rated players looking for new teams to thrive within 2025, hopefully, they can fill their potential new teams’ needs to find a happy median to take them to the Big Game!
