While many NFL teams would love to have a player like wide receiver Davante Adams, it just didn’t seem like the Las Vegas Raiders were one of them.
With the NFL trade deadline coming up on November 5, the Raiders can decide which team to deal Adams to after his process of requesting a trade.
Requesting a Trade
Below are the teams he’ll likely want to be dealt to. The Raiders are only looking for a second-round pick in exchange.
The New York Jets
Adams’ likely favorable choice is to play for the New York Jets. He played with Aaron Rodgers for eight years with the Green Bay Packers.
They were a force to be reckoned with their passing and catching abilities.
The Jets already boast a young stud receiver in Garrett Wilson. They also have a solid offensive line and a dual running back attack between Breece Hall and Braylon Allen.
If they can find a way to give up a depth piece without giving up Wilson, the Jets could have a 1-2 punch at receiver with Adams and Wilson.
Additionally, they will open up the field with good protection and an opened-up run game.
The bottom line is that the Jets are in win-now mode. Head coach Robert Saleh is possibly coaching for his job, with his team sitting at an underachieving (2-2) record.
New Orleans Saints
Adams has a former quarterback connection with the Saints. He and Derek Carr played together at Fresno State and with the Raiders until 2023, when New Orleans signed him.
The 31-year-old already boasts a close connection with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Adding a third receiver he already played with in Las Vegas would be the luck of the draw.
They would have to restructure his deal as the Saints have only $4.6 million in salary cap space.
It would indeed look good when the Saints go marching in with Adams on their roster.
Kansas City Chiefs
Could we see the unthinkable three-peat? If I were Davis, I would say, “YOLO,” and make the deal.
In the 2024 NFL draft, NFL fans saw the Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon “Big Baller” Beane go for it on fourth down by trading down with the Kansas City Chiefs from pick number 28 to 32.
The Chiefs drafted Xavier “Fast Track” Worthy, a player who broke the record for the 40-yard dash time at the combine, running a 4.21.
Meanwhile, the Bills traded down again at 33 to select Keon Coleman.
The Bills ended up getting more picks in the deal, while the Chiefs got the receiver they wanted.
The point is that sometimes, you must trade with your competition to eventually become the new dynasty. The same applies to the Raiders.
You’re already starting to build a reputation as the Raiders teams of the old.
That means you build a nasty line and play power running football while opening up your passing game.
On defense, you play “Mahome Rules,” where you blitz him and make it hard for him to find his open receivers.
Plus, you risk trading him where your rivals three-peat while continuing to build to your strengths and hope it works out long-term.
It’s a devious plan, but Davis should say, “I dare you to acquire Adams Kansas City.”
Pittsburgh Steelers
Could Adams fit well in the hardworking “Steel City”? You have a blossoming young QB in Justin Fields, a stout offensive line, and a running game representing a “hard-working” gritty team.
When the Steelers keep eating in the run game, it usually opens up the field for a deep shot for George Pickens, who is currently their second option.
This is where you plug in Adams and hit him open on a deep pass when the other side of the field is being covered.
Who will stop Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren when healthy, plus Pickens and potentially Adams? Sounds like a good fit.
After Adams announced he was requesting a trade from the Raiders, there are a few teams in mind he could land on.
Which team are you rooting for?
