Tom Brady had a subtle answer when he was quizzed to settle the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate

The Power Slap event, hosted by Dana White in Las Vegas, was a magnet for celebrities.

Among the attendees were social media sensations such as Speed, Adin Ross, and Kai Cenat.

NFL superstar Tom Brady was also present at the event, taking time out before Super Bowl 58 at the Allegiant Stadium.

The Eternal Football Debate

Speed posed the timeless question to Brady: Ronaldo or Messi? Brady’s response was unexpected and sparked controversy.

He declined to choose between the two football greats, stating, “I can’t pick between them two.” This response left Speed, Ross, and Cenat in disbelief.

Brady then turned the question around and asked Speed for his preference. Speed responded by mimicking Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siuu’ celebration.

Ronaldo himself had met Brady during his second stint at Manchester United. After a 3-2 victory over Tottenham in March 2022, where Ronaldo scored a hat-trick, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had a chance to chat with the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

Ronaldo’s Encounter with Brady

Ronaldo recalled their conversation, noting Brady’s psychological insight and football knowledge.

He said, “He’s a very, very smart guy, he knows a lot about football. We had a nice conversation. He gave me good energy. When you have another GOAT, it’s energy. It’s all about energy. When you have good energy around you, I can do interesting things.”

Brady’s Admiration for Messi

While Tom Brady refrained from choosing between Ronaldo and Messi, he expressed his admiration for Messi in 2022.

He said, “I love Messi. He is a great player; however, I am a little older than him. I love soccer, I’ve watched it for a long time and I’m not old enough to have watched Maradona, that’s probably for previous generations. I admire him, he’s a great athlete.”
