A viral video of Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has sparked wild speculation. The video, shared by Brad Lester, a private running backs coach, shows Chubb working on his surgically repaired left knee. It has received approximately 500,000 views on X.

Chubb’s season came to an abrupt end with a knee injury that would make anyone recoil upon witnessing it. This prompted ESPN and ABC to decide not to air the replay of Chubb’s injury. However, fans at the Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers game at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium saw the unfortunate incident on the big screen. He underwent two separate procedures to repair his ACL and MCL, the most recent of which occurred in November.

Chubb had previously damaged the same knee in college, leading some to believe it could end his career. However, he has been working hard to return to the field and is determined to look like the Pro Bowl back he once was.

Chubb’s workout hints at comeback

Another recent video of Chubb working out intensely has surfaced, showing him running on the upper level of a gym—a tremendous step in the right direction. The Cleveland.source posted the video via their Instagram account.

Quincy Carrier, a YouTube star, analyzed the footage on the ‘Sports 4 CLE’ podcast, offering a more realistic perspective.

“It’s exciting to see him sprint, but we know in reality with ACL tears, it’s more about the lateral movement than it is about the straight-line stuff,” Carrier said.”

The Browns are pleased with Chubb’s progress in his rehab; however, they are managing expectations for his return and preparing for him to miss some time. Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr. are gearing up to fill in during his absence. Cleveland has also signed veterans D’Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines.

This offseason, Chubb and the Browns agreed to restructure his deal, reducing his base income from nearly $12 million to $2.275 million, with much converted into incentives. This restructuring could motivate Chubb to return to the field sooner rather than later.

Chubb’s contract placed him in a precarious situation, where the Browns had the option to cut him, but instead, they negotiated a mutually beneficial settlement. The Browns kick off their season on September 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. If Chubb isn’t ready for that matchup, the team hopes for his prompt return shortly after. While the Browns are taking a cautious approach with Chubb, he is eager to return quickly to begin earning his incentives.
