Utah Valley continued their 2025 season and fought to make an already great year into a legendary one.
UVU Wolverines 33-29 (13-11 in the WAC)
UVU got their 2025 NCAA Tournament started on a fantastic note. First, they pulled an upset of the Eugene Regional home team, the Oregon Ducks. Friday night, the WAC Tournament Champions upset the regular season Big Ten co-champions 6-5. Oregon definitely has a Utah Valley problem. It was the first NCAA Tournament win in program history!
Saturday was a little more difficult going up against the Big 12 Tournament Champions, the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats wrecked the Wolverines 14-4, giving UVU their first loss of the tournament, and making their next game an elimination game.
Sunday, they played Cal Poly (who was the second half of the upset and early exit of the mighty Oregon Ducks) with a regional final rematch against Arizona on the line. The teams battled hard, with the game going into extra innings. The Wolverines would fall in the 11th by the score of 7-6.
The 2025 Utah Valley Wolverines Season
Utah Valley had a fantastic season, going 33-29 (13-11 in the WAC). They won their second WAC Tournament Championship this year and made their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Getting your first NCAA Tournament win in program history is no small feat. It’s especially huge when it upsets the regional host team, and in this case, the Big Ten regular season co-champions, the Oregon Ducks.
This is particularly impressive given that UVU only joined Division I play in 2009! Utah is a home for good baseball, and the Wolverines are fighting to make their team and baseball program as good as any in the West. In 2025, they were easily the best baseball team in Utah. Their head-to-head record against the other three Utah teams isn’t excellent. But no one else got as far or played as well when it mattered the most. Give head coach Nate Rasmussen credit. With tournament championships and more games on the line, Utah Valley played their best baseball! The Wolverines are Valley Forged!
Utah, BYU, and Utah Tech concluded their seasons before this week.
