San Antonio Brahmas OL Aaron Monteiro (67) - pfnewsroom.com
UFL Week 7 kicked off with a Friday Night Lights UFL showdown on FOX as Jordan Ta’amu and the DC Defenders (4-2) took on Kevin Hogan and the San Antonio Brahmas (1-5) on Friday, May 9, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
UFL Week 7: 1st Quarter
The Defenders scored first, as running back Deon Jackson ran to the right side for a three-yard touchdown. However, the two-point pass was ineffective, and the Defenders led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.
UFL Week 7: 2nd Quarter
With 10:25 left in the first half, Hogan threw to Alize Mack for a seven-yard score. The one-point try was no good, tying the score at six all.
A DC fumble on the ensuing kickoff set up a drive that ended in a 22-yard San Antonio field goal by Tristan Vizcaino, giving the Brahmas their first lead, 9-6.
With 1:38 left until halftime, Vizcaino doinked his second field goal from 54 yards, and the Brahmas increased their lead to 12-6.
The Brahmas then fumbled the ball, which DC’s Anthony Hines III recovered for a score. The missed two-point try tied the score at 12 at the half.
UFL Week 7: 3rd Quarter
The Brahmas took advantage of their first drive with the ball coming out of halftime. Hogan threw to Steven Stilianos for a two-yard touchdown.
The missed one-point conversion try made it 18-12, San Antonio, with 8:16 left in the third quarter.
The Defenders regained the lead as Ta’amu completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Cornell Powell, and Jackson’s one-point try made it 19-18 Brahmas at the end of three quarters of play.
UFL Week 7: 4th Quarter
Following a San Antonio punt, Ta’amu threw another 76-yard TD strike, this time to Braylon Sanders, but a missed one-point try made it 25-18, Brahmas with 10:17 left to play.
The Brahmas would answer back as Jashaun Corbin ran it in for a 57-yard touchdown, and the missed two-point conversion cut the lead to one point, 25-24.
The Defenders put the game away. Ta’amu threw a four-yard touchdown pass to offensive tackle Gunner Britton on the tackle-eligible play, and the converted one-point try sealed the win for the Defenders, 32-24.
