Brahmas get their first win in the UFL 2025 season, 24-18 - pfnnewsroom.com

Last Sunday, the San Antonio Brahmas (0-3) faced the DC Defenders (3-0) at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. The Brahmas shocked the world by upsetting the Defenders 24-18.

This game marked the first win under new interim head coach Payton Pardee.

First Quarter

On San Antonio’s first drive, running back Adian Robbins scored a touchdown on an 11-play, 76-yard drive. This puts the team up 6-0 over the Defenders.

The Brahmas extended their lead with 3:30 left in the quarter as Mathew Sexton returned a punt for 83 yards all the way to the endzone. Making it 12-0, San Antonio.

Second Quarter

DC would not be denied as QB Jordan Ta’amu hit TE Briley Moore-McKinney for a 39-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 12-6 Brahmas.

Ta’amu conducted a 10-play, 72-yard drive that capped it off with a Matt McCrane 25-yard field goal to make it a 12-9 contest.

San Antonio created an 11-play, 61-yard drive ending with Robbins’ second touchdown of the day. That brought the team’s lead to 18-9.

The Defenders would not end the half without putting points on the board. McCrane kicked a field goal with two seconds left, and the team was trailing 18-12.

Third Quarter

The Defenders came out of the halftime intermission ready to rock. They converted a 10-play, 81-yard drive. Ta’amu scored on a seven-yard QB keeper to tie the score 18-18.

San Antonio responded with a long drive from QB Kellen Mond, throwing a nine-yard touchdown pass to Greg Ward Jr.

That brought the score to 24-18 with under six minutes to play in the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

With the Defenders driving down late in the fourth for a game-winning score, the Brahmas’ defense stepped up big, forcing an incomplete pass with seconds to play.

The Brahmas would run out the clock to win 24-18.

Key Stats

For the San Antonio Brahmas, the leading passer was quarterback Kellen Mond, who went 14-20 for 121 yards and a touchdown.

The team’s rushing leaders were Anthony McFarland Jr. with 55 yards on 14 carries, and Aiden Robbins, who followed with 13 yards on four carries, and helped the team by scoring two touchdowns.

The Brahmas’ defense was key in this win, headed by linebacker Tavante Beckett’s outstanding 14 tackles, which resulted in two turnovers on downs in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Ta’amu was the leading passer for the DC Defenders, finishing 19-31 for 300 yards and a touchdown.

TE Briley Moore-McKinney made the splash play for the team with one catch that went for a 39-yard touchdown to get the team on the scoreboard in the second quarter.

The San Antonio Brahmas (1-3) will host the Houston Roughnecks (1-3) in their first home game of the season at the Alamodome on Sunday, April 27, at 3:00 pm ET on ESPN.
