On Saturday, June 1, the St. Louis Battlehawks won a close game over the San Antonio Brahmas, 13-12.

The Dome at America’s Center was rocking with a sold-out crowd of 34,379. It was a “KAWsum” ending to a great game.

UFL Week 10 Was Exciting

The (7-3) San Antonio Brahmas came to the Dome to take on the (7-3) St. Louis Battlehawks in a preview of the 2024 XFL Conference Championship game.

The winner of this game would clinch home-field advantage, which would be key heading into next Saturday.

St. Louis was raring to go with this battle.

What’s at Stake for UFL Week 10

Additionally, next Saturday’s XFL Championship winner would advance to the inaugural UFL Championship game.

It will occur at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday, June 16, at 5:00 pm EST (4:00 pm CT).

You can catch that game on Fox or Fox Sports on Sirius XM radio at 5:00 pm EST (4:00 pm CT).

Game Recap

The St. Louis Battlehawks rocked the Dome early as quarterback A.J. McCarron threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Steven Mitchell.

A one-point conversion by Jake Sutherland put the Battlehawks up 7-0.

McCarron was sacked on third and two, but an Andre Szmyt field goal from 32 yards increased the Battlehawk’s lead to 10-0.

With the San Antonio Brahmas driving late in the second half, Ryan Santoso’s 59-yard field goal was blocked, and the half-time score was 10-0 St. Louis.

Home-field advantage would be decided in the next 30 minutes of the game.

Second Half

San Antonio opened up the scoring as Morgan Ellison banged his way into the endzone for a touchdown. A two-point conversion failed, making it 10-6 early in the third quarter.

A field goal by Szmyt made it 13-6, St. Louis.

San Antonio made things interesting with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Quinten Dormady to Jonte Kirklin to make it a 13-12 game.

The Brahmas looked to have taken the lead 14-13, but St. Louis quarterback A.J. McCarron saw an illegal San Antonio receiver downfield.

The Battlehawks challenged it and won the call, which kept it a one-score game.

St. Louis failed to end the game on the next drive and returned the ball to San Antonio. Santoso lined up for a game-winning 51-yard field goal but missed it wide left.

The Battlehawks sent their sold-out Dome home happy, with the hopes that they can win again next week.

It All Came Down to the Kicker

Santoso’s bad luck with kicking continued into one of the most vital games of the season.

He missed his previous three kicks in San Antonio’s victory over the Birmingham Stallions while completing his first 12 out of 13 tries.

Now, the usual steady kicker has made it five consistent misses and two this week. One was blocked in the first half, and the second was a missed game-winning attempt.

You have to feel sorry for the kicker, but that’s sports. Time to brush it off and get ready for next week.
