Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has expressed doubts about the likelihood of another NBA team replicating the dynasty his team built over the past decade. Following the departure of his long-time teammate Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, Curry conveyed his belief that sustaining the level of success the Warriors achieved will be extremely challenging.
Challenges of Maintaining a Dominant Core
Curry emphasized the difficulties of keeping a cohesive core together in today’s NBA, where significant player movement has become more common. He, Thompson, and Draymond Green formed the heart of the Warriors’ championship teams, but Curry acknowledged that recreating such a partnership will be “very hard.”
“I don’t think [it will be replicated] just because it’s very hard to keep things together in this league. A lot more player movement. Me, Klay, and Dray, we were able to do it for a long time, but that’s not the norm anymore,” Curry said.
Evolving Dynasties and Embracing Change
While Stephen Curry expressed skepticism about replicating the Warriors’ specific accomplishments, he acknowledged that dynasties can take different forms and evolve over time. The team has undergone roster changes, including the acquisition of new players and a focus on developing young talents like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
Curry recognized the uncertainties that come with these changes but emphasized the importance of embracing new challenges. He reminisced about the comfort of playing alongside Thompson but expressed gratitude for their shared journey and a willingness to adapt to the team’s transformation.

Despite the changes, Stephen Curry reiterated his commitment to finishing his career with the Warriors. He expressed his attachment to the Bay Area and his desire to continue competing at a high level while cherishing his roots and community ties.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr described Thompson’s departure as “bizarre” and highlighted the familial bond within the organization. Kerr acknowledged the need for change, both for Thompson and the team, following recent playoff disappointments.
