cardinals top prospect

St. Louis Cardinals top prospect Jordan Walker is off to a historic start to his career. The top pick of the stellar 2020 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals was a class that also included fellow top prospects Masyn Winn, Tink Hence and Alec Burleson. Surprisingly Walker made the team out of spring training. Because he gave them no choice. He crushed the ball all spring training.

The Cardinals would have preferred to start him in triple A so he could get more time in the outfield but his bat had other plans.

Walker currently is sitting on an eleven game hit streak. One short of the all-time record set in 1912 by Eddie Murphy for longest hit streak to begin a career. He broke the Cardinals team record with his tenth game in a row. Magneuris Sierra formerly held that record at nine games.

He has a cannon for an arm

Walker shows poise well beyond his years. Watching him, you would never guess he was only twenty years old. And with eye-popping exit velocity and tremendous ball to bat skills it’s no wonder many experts picked him as their pre-season choice to win rookie of the year.

Drafted as a third baseman Walker has had to move to the outfield because of the presence of Arenado. His defense in the outfield is definitely a work in progress but the ability is there. He has a cannon for an arm and enough raw athletic ability to make up for any lack of experience. Many experts project him moving to first base.

The sky is the limit for the Cardinals top prospect and all baseball fans should be excited to see what the future holds for this young man. Because the top prospects’ historic start is just the beginning of great things to come.
