It’s Week 9, folks! We’re heading into Week 10, our final week of the regular season. It doesn’t feel like we’ve spent an entire season in UFL fandom together yet. If you were too busy at the Memorial Day cookout, I got you covered when it comes to the game summary between the St. Louis Battlehawks and the Arlington Renegades. Don’t forget, we have plenty of prediction fun after the summary, too!

St. Louis Battlehawks & Arlington Renegades Game Summary

Before you catch up on the St. Louis Battlehawks and Arlington Renegades games, make sure you’ve caught all our other UFL content on The Forkball for more week 9 fun and every week prior.

1st Half

Apparently we have another Mr. Fumble Fingers in the UFL, and they are on the St. Louis Battlehawks roster. We’ll get into that in a bit. To be fair, there were multiple MFFs on the Battlehawks roster. St. Louis’s wide receiver Blake Jackson started the fumble trend at the hands of SS Myles Dorn. Another player fell on the loose ball. The Renegades made good use of the turnover, getting a TD and a successful two-point conversion, leaving the score at 8-0 to end the first quarter.

The second quarter kicked off in excitement with a successful field goal from St. Louis and a returning field goal from Arlington. The Battlehawks weren’t interested in staying at 11-3. Their RB Jacob Saylers‘ 39-yard run made quick work of the journey across the field. The St. Louis Battlehawks did make a TD but dropped the ball with the two-point conversion, leaving the score at 11-9.

Renegades QB Luis Perez was the player we all knew he could be when he got another TD and a successful two-point conversion, leaving the score 19-9. The Battlehawks tried to answer with QB Manny Wilkins running the ball in with an unsuccessful two-point conversion. The half ended 19–15.

2nd Half

St. Louis came out with a fighting spirit, getting a TD right away in the third quarter, leaving the score 21-19. Arlington wasn’t having that, though. Perez connected with TE Seth Green for a TD and two-point conversion. The Renegades were back on top at the end of the third quarter with a score of 27-21.

What happened during the fourth quarter? The St. Louis Battlehawks fumbled way too many times! Congrats, Arlington Defense! Y’all showed up this week. St. Louis successfully made a one-yard attempt. The Renegades got a field goal and a TD, leaving the score 36-22. Arlington won their second game of the season! Better luck next time, St. Louis.

Last Week’s Predictions

Let’s check my Week 9 predictions (found here) to see how right I am.

Yes! I guessed correctly that the Arlington Renegades would defeat the St. Louis Battlehawks. Woohoo! I am on a roll because I was correct that Birmingham would fall to San Antonio. Get out your fire extinguisher, because I am on fire. The Defenders defeated the Showboats!

Trusting the Houston Roughnecks has been a problem for me all season. I guessed they would win, and of course they didn’t. I’ll take the 75%! Week 10% will be the 100% correct week. I can feel it!

Week 10 Predictions

Alright, folks. This is our last week of regular-season predictions. I know I’ll miss this segment too. But let’s get into it. The schedule with full game details can be found here

Saturday Games

Firstly, at 2 PM ET on Saturday, the recently defeated Birmingham Stallions will play the Michigan Panthers. I don’t think the Stallions will accept another loss so soon and will take this win. The other Saturday game will be at 4 p.m. ET, with the San Antonio Brahmas facing off against the St. Louis Battlehawks in St. Louis. This could absolutely go either way. I think the St. Louis Battlehawks will take it because of their home field advantage.

Sunday Games

The noon game between the Arlington Renegades and DC Defenders could go either way. The DC Defenders have performed more consistently throughout the season, so I predict they will take the win. Lastly, the Houston Roughnecks and Memphis Showboats face off in Memphis in the evening. Do not let me down again, Houston. I choose you.

Readers, don’t be too sad about the end of the regular season. The Forkball will cover post-season games. Have no fear; the Forkball writers are here. Don’t miss this recap done by fantastic Forkball author Jamie Malloy, detailing the San Antonio Brahmas defeating the Birmingham Stallions. What a beautiful moment in history!
