The SEC is coming off its finest showing during the 2025 NFL Draft. In terms of draft picks, it dominated all of college football. Conference wise it had a whopping 79 picks chosen somewhere between rounds one and seven. That’s quite a leap from the previous record of 65 set in 2022.
The additions of the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners gave the numbers a boost. Most of the additional draft picks came by way of the Longhorns who enjoyed a record 12 draftees. Seven of them got swooped up in the final round. The previous record was set for the Longhorns in 2024 with 11 picks. They’re clearly a team on the up-and-up.

Oklahoma added two more NFL draft picks to the SEC pool, both considerably talented defenders landing in the fourth round. Former coach Lincoln Riley left them high and dry when he poached Caleb Williams and fled to USC amid unfinished business to become the highest paid coach in the nation. Even after replacing the coach with a familiar face in Brent Venables, a string of not-so-great things left a trail of rotten luck leading to their admission to the SEC. We expect a big rebound from OU this season.
