Former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman had his bail set at $5000 on Monday following his weekend arrest for suspected driving under the influence.
Incident Details
Sherman was pulled over shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday for driving 79 mph (127 km/h) in a 60 mph (97 km/h) zone on Interstate 405 south of Seattle, according to a probable cause statement by Washington State Patrol Trooper Jordan Hazzard-Thomas. Hazzard-Thomas noted Sherman’s bloodshot and watery eyes, the smell of intoxicants, and his refusal to take a breath test.
Legal Proceedings
Sherman spent the weekend in King County Jail and waived his right to appear at a bail hearing Monday. His attorney, Jon Scott Fox, expects Sherman to be processed and released soon.
Fox declined further comment on the arrest, saying it was too early to say anything else. Sherman’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
