The regular season is almost over for the Scarlet Knights. In the remaining Rutgers Baseball schedule, the team just has one series left. With only one more team to face, the team’s ranking in the Big Ten is on the line. Here is a look at the remaining Rutgers Baseball Schedule for the 2023 regular season.

Remaining Rutgers Baseball Schedule

The final series will take place in Minneapolis against Minnesota. Rutgers won their series against Illinois 2-1 just this past weekend. The series was their final home series, and it was a big one. After losing one of the games, the Scarlet Knights have fallen to fourth in the Big Ten. Rutgers now has a 13-8 conference record. The teams ahead of them are Indiana and Maryland, with 15 wins each, and Iowa. Iowa also has 13 wins but one less loss giving them the edge.

This makes the rest of the games on the Rutgers Baseball schedule more important. Minnesota currently has an 8-13 conference record, also having a 4-5 record at home against Big Ten opponents. Rutgers’ away record against the Big Ten is 5-4.

The series will begin on May 18th. The other two games will take place on the 19th and 20th. The first two games will also be under the lights at 7 pm Eastern. In the 2022 season, Rutgers swept the series against Minnesota.

Why the Series is Important

The remaining Rutgers Baseball schedule may be short, but that does not take away from its importance. Indiana and Maryland are two games ahead. Based on their opponents they will most likely remain in the top two. Indiana will be facing Michigan State, and Maryland will be facing Penn State. The game to watch will be the team just ahead of Rutgers.

Iowa has just as many wins as Rutgers. They are also in a similar situation where they should win their final series, against Northwestern. Anything can happen, and Rutgers will need to hope Northwestern makes a surprise win and hope the Scarlet Knights sweep its series.

The Big Ten Tournament will take place from May 23rd to the 28th. With eight teams taking part in the tournament, Rutgers will just need to wait in order to find out their opponent. The tournament will take place in Omaha, Nebraska at Charles Schwab Field.

The Rutgers Baseball schedule may be short, but it is still important. The main goal will be to win their final series of the regular season.
