Northwestern Pro Day

Northwestern QB Ben Bryant (2) - Griffin Quinn/Northwestern Athletics

Next up in the draft process is the Northwestern Pro Day. This is when players can get one more chance to show off their skills to NFL scouts. This is even more important for players who did not receive an NFL Scouting Combine invitation. The Northwestern Pro Day will take place on March 6th.

Northwestern Pro Day Information

Three players are confirmed to be participating in the Northwestern Pro Day. This may not be many, but those three players will be the focus, giving them the perfect opportunity to show off their skills. Here is a look at the three players who will get a chance to participate, and what their current draft projection is.

Ben Bryant – QB

After six seasons of college football, quarterback Ben Bryant will have a chance to participate in the Northwestern Pro Day. Of his six seasons, he spent four at Cincinnati, one at Eastern Michigan, and one with Northwestern. The Wildcats greatly exceeded expectations this year, and Bryant is a reason why. In his six seasons of college football, he completed 711 passes for 8,212 yards and 50 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. His completion percentage was 64.3. He’s thrown 23 interceptions in the six years.

Byrant’s current draft projection has him going as an undrafted free agent. Given only three players are participating, Bryant can take advantage and show why he deserves a spot on a team. The unfortunate part of the game is the injuries. This does mean backup quarterbacks are valuable, and a team could use Bryant as valuable depth.

Cam Johnson – WR

Cam Johnson is the lone wide receiver who will get the chance to participate in the Northwestern Pro Day. Johnson has played six years of college football. His first four years were with Vanderbilt, followed by a year at Arizona State, and of course one year at Northwestern. In his six years, Johnson has had 188 receptions for 2,032 yards and 16 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference.

The wide receiver group is deep this year, which does lower Johnson’s draft projection. He is expected to be an undrafted free agent but can use this Pro Day to convince teams to sign him down the line.

Bryce Gallagher – LB

Bryce Gallagher is the final player from the Wildcats who will get the chance to participate in the Pro Day. Gallagher spent five seasons with Northwestern, the entirety of his collegiate career. In the five years, Gallagher had 316 combined tackles, 162 solo, and 15 tackles for loss, according to Sports Reference. He also defended three passes and had two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Gallagher is another player expected to go undrafted. He will need to use the Northwestern Pro Day to show scouts his skills one more time. This can help convince teams to sign him later down the line.

The Northwestern Pro Day will take place on March 6th. After that, it’s the 2024 NFL Draft. The draft will take place April 25th-27th.
