Next up in the draft process is the Nebraska Pro Day. This is when players can get one more chance to show off their skills to NFL scouts. They can also potentially improve their draft stock if they impress. The Nebraska Pro Day will take place on March 20th.
Nebraska Pro Day Information
According to Pro Football Network, the Nebraska Pro Day will be on Wednesday, March 20th. None of the Cornhuskers received an invite to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Here is a look at some of the players that could be participating, and what their draft projection is.
Marcus Washington – WR
After five seasons of college football, wide receiver Marcus Washington is heading to the NFL Draft. Washington first spent three seasons with Texas before spending his final two with Nebraska. In five seasons, Washington had 64 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. In October, Washington suffered a torn ACL. It is hard to expect him to run drills, but he could still attend. The injury does hurt Washinton’s draft projection. He is expected to go undrafted. He can use the Nebraska Pro Day to show teams how he is progressing from his injury.
Anthony Grant – RB
In 2018, running back Anthony Grant began playing college football at Florida State for one year. He then spent two seasons playing for the New Mexico Military Institute. He played every season as a true freshman at Florida State, mainly as a kick returner. In his two seasons at NMMI, he rushed for 2,549 yards and 28 touchdowns, according to Nebraska Athletics. Finally, he ended his collegiate career playing with Nebraska for two seasons. With the Cornhuskers, Grant rushed the ball 322 times for 1,328 yards and nine touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. He also had 22 receptions for 117 yards.
Grant is a solid player, but he is expected to go undrafted. Running backs naturally fall in the draft, and Grant will likely fall victim to that. There is always the chance that a team picks him up and he ends up impressing them enough to get a shot in the league.
Luke Reimer – LB
After five seasons at Nebraska, linebacker Luke Reimer is attempting a run at the NFL. In his five seasons, according to Sports Reference, Reimer had 293 combined tackles, 157 solo, 23 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. He also defended 11 passes and had two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Reimer is a speedy player who does well while blitzing or chasing down players when opponents run the ball. He is a projected undrafted free agent. As no Nebraska player received an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, Reimer can use the Nebraska Pro Day to improve his draft stock.
Omar Brown – S
Safety Omar Brown is heading to the NFL after five seasons of college football. His first three seasons were at Northern Iowa, followed by two at Nebraska. With the Cornhuskers Brown had 56 total tackles, 36 solo, and three tackles for loss, according to Sports Reference. He also had one interception, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery with the Cornhuskers. In his first year at Northern Iowa, Brown had six interceptions. According to ESPN, Brown has had nine interceptions in five years.
Brown is a quick player whose strength is his change-of-direction ability. He also does well tracking the ball, which is evident by his number of interceptions. Brown is another player projected to go as an undrafted free agent. He did not receive an invite to the Combine, but he did get one for the Shrine Bowl.
The Nebraska Pro Day will take place on March 20th. The players will also have time to schedule pre-draft visits with various NFL teams. After that, it’s the 2024 NFL Draft. The draft will take place April 25th-27th
