Myles Garrett sent shockwaves through the NFL this week when he formally requested a trade away from the Cleveland Browns. In the first eight years of his career, Garrett has established himself as one of the best defensive players in football. Garrett won the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023, and he has been named to six Pro Bowls. If the Browns decide to trade Garrett, he will surely command a high-quality trade package. The deal would likely include at least one first-round pick. With that in mind, here are a few potential Myles Garrett landing spots.

Detroit Lions

Maybe it’s not the most realistic outcome, but the Detroit Lions are in need of a pass rusher opposite Aidan Hutchinson. After Hutchinson went down with an injury early in the season, the Lions’ defense struggled to produce consistent pressure. After seeing their season end in the divisional round, the Lions may be looking to reinforce their defensive front. However, Hutchinson has a massive contract extension looming. Especially considering Jared Goff’s new contract, Detroit may not have the cap space available to make this move.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have been known to make splash trades for star players. From the A.J. Brown trade to the Jason Peters move, this team is no stranger to acquiring big-time talent. Though Philadelphia’s roster lacks significant weaknesses, they could stand to improve their pass rush. Jalen Carter has become a star on the interior this season, but the Eagles are missing a significant presence on the edge. Myles Garrett would make this defensive front one of the most dangerous units in the NFL. His presence would make the Eagles the team to beat in the NFC for years to come.

Atlanta Falcons

Heading into the 2024 season, the Atlanta Falcons were expected to compete for a Super Bowl. They had signed quarterback Kirk Cousins to lead their offense and bolstered their defense with a few notable additions. In disappointing fashion, the Falcons fell short of the playoffs on the final day of the season. Kirk Cousins was benched for rookie Michael Penix Jr. in the middle of the season, and the Falcons’ defense struggled to put pressure on opposing passers. If Atlanta intends to remain aggressive this offseason, they will certainly be calling about Myles Garrett.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders may be the most likely of these potential Myles Garrett landing spots. The Commanders significantly outperformed expectations this season, largely because of the play of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Washington has plenty of cap space available this offseason to add talent to their roster in pursuit of a Super Bowl. Their defense was better than expected, but it lacks star power. Myles Garrett would solidify them as Super Bowl contenders moving forward.
