The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine will begin soon, and multiple Minnesota players are receiving an invitation. The NFL Scouting Combine provides a place for college football players to show off their skills one final time before their pro day and have meetings with NFL coaches GMs and other scouts. Here is a look at the Minnesota Players.

Minnesota Players Invited to Combine

There are just two Minnesota players who will have a chance to participate in the combine. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are just one of the many Big Ten teams representing in this year’s Combine. The two are listed in no particular order. Here is a look at the athletes, their time at Minnesota, and what their draft stock is.

Brevyn Spann-Ford

Minnesota tight end, Brevyn Spann-Ford’s first season with Minnesota was in 2018, though he was red-shirted. In both 2023 and 2022, the tight end earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, according to Minnesota Athletics. In five years of playing, Spann-Ford had 95 receptions for 1,061 yards and seven touchdowns, according to Sports Reference.

There are numerous tight ends in this year’s NFL draft. He competes well with the others in his position. His biggest strength is that he is a threat in the red zone, according to The Draft Network. This will be a factor that teams consider heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. NFL Draft Buzz has the tight end ranked 14th in his position. He will get another chance to demonstrate why teams should draft him. It will depend on how fast the tight ends are being taken when the draft comes, but Spann-Ford could be taken earlier if the position is going quickly. Watch for his name on the third day of the draft, but a late pick on the second day could be a possibility.

Tyler Nubin

Defensive back, Tyler Nubin is the other Minnesota player who received an invitation to the 2024 NFL Combine. Similarly to Spann-Ford, Nubin first had the chance to show his skills in the Senior Bowl. Nubin’s first year was in 2019, and in 2023 he earned All-Big Ten First Team, according to Minnesota Athletics. In five seasons, Nubin defended 11 passes and had 13 interceptions, according to Sports Reference. In addition to the interceptions, Nubin had three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Nubin’s success in college will make him a name to watch early in this year’s NFL Draft.

There is a high chance that Nubin will be named in the first round of this year’s draft. He is one of the top safeties in the draft, with NFL Draft Buzz ranking him first in his position. Many other draft sites have him as a day-one pick as well, and he will be a top target for teams in need of safety help. Be sure to watch for the defensive back to have his name called on night one of the 2024 NFL Draft.

These former Minnesota players will get another chance to show NFL scouts why they should draft them. The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from February 27th until March 4th. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place from April 25th until April 27th.
