Next up in the draft process is the Maryland Pro Day. This is when players can get one more chance to show off their skills to NFL scouts. This is even more important for players who did not receive an NFL Scouting Combine invitation. The Maryland Pro Day will take place on March 29th.
Maryland Pro Day Information
Six players will be expected to appear at the Maryland Pro Day this year. Some did receive an invite to the 2024 NFL Combine, but others did not and will need to take advantage of this opportunity. Of course, some of these players will also have pre-draft visits with teams. Here is a look at the players expected to participate in the Maryland Pro Day.
Taulia Tagovailoa – QB
Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is heading to the NFL. He did request an extra year of college football, but he did not get it. Now, he is off to the league after five years of college football. He spent his first year with Alabama, where his brother Tua played, before transferring to Maryland for four years. In his five years, he has had 964 completions for 11,356 yards and 77 touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. This is compared to just 37 interceptions, giving him a completion percentage of 67.1.
Tagovailoa’s physical nature is his weakness, standing at just 5-11. His draft projection is currently undrafted, but there is a chance a team will take him late. Last year there were 14 quarterbacks taken in the draft. If teams need a backup and like what they see in Tagovailoa, there is a chance he is taken. For now, expect him to go undrafted.
Delmar Glaze – C
After four years with Maryland, center Delmar Glaze is heading to the NFL. Glaze is a strong athlete, especially in the run game. His current draft projection is in the sixth round. He is a player that may not come in and start but could develop into a starter. What will help him is that he can also play at tackle, making him a versatile player. He can use the Maryland Pro Day to showcase his abilities and show why he should be selected in the draft.
Corey Bullock – OL
Offensive lineman, Corey Bullock is heading to the NFL after one season playing with Maryland. Before joining Maryland, Bullock played for North Carolina Central. Bullock is a strong player, who did well blocking for Tagovailoa. He will be able to use the Maryland Pro Day to impress scouts and earn a spot on a team. Bullock is currently projected to go undrafted this year.
Ruben Hyppolite II – LB
Linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II is heading to the NFL after four seasons with Maryland. In his four years, he has had 170 total tackles, 105 solo, 6.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks, according to Sports Reference. He has also had one forced fumble. The linebacker is a strong tackler but needs to improve on locating the ball. Hyppolite is currently projected to go undrafted this year.
Beau Brade – S
Safety Beau Brade spent four seasons with Maryland. He is now heading to the NFL. In his four years, he has had 177 total tackles, 115 solo, 9.5 tackles for loss, and one sack, according to Sports Reference. He has also defended 11 passes, forced three fumbles, and had three interceptions. The safety is a speedy player who can catch up to receivers and finish a tackle. Brade is currently a fourth-round draft projection.
Tarheeb Still – CB
Tarheeb Still is the final player to expect at the Maryland Pro Day. The cornerback spent four years with Maryland. In his four years, he has had 166 total tackles, 124 solo, nine tackles for loss, and two sacks, according to Sports Reference. He also has defended 21 passes, recovered four fumbles, and caught six interceptions. Still is an instinctive player and a strong hitter, but needs to work on finishing his tackles. Still is currently expected to go undrafted.
The Maryland Pro Day will take place on March 29th. Players will also have the opportunity to schedule pre-draft visits with NFL teams. After that, it’s the 2024 NFL Draft. The draft will take place April 25th-27th.
