The NFL Scouting Combine is this week and there are a couple of Maryland players to receive an invitation. The combine will give players a chance to show off their skills one last time before their pro day and give them a chance to meet with coaches and GMs of various NFL teams. Here is a look at the Maryland players who received an invitation.
Maryland Players Invited to NFL Combine
Four Maryland players received an invitation. They will be organized by position. One name left off of the list is quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. There are still many strong players who will get a chance to improve their draft stock this week.
Gottlieb Ayedze
Offensive lineman, Gottlieb Ayedze is one of the players who received an invitation. His first season with the Terps was just this year. His collegiate career began at Frostburg State in 2019. Ayedze’s position with Maryland is right tackle and was ranked as the sixth-highest blocking tackle in the Big Ten, per University of Maryland Athletics. Before this week’s combine, Ayedze also had the chance to participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Pre-NFL Combine, The offensive tackle is expected to be a day three pick. There is a chance that he goes undrafted, but it can be more likely that he is taken in the 6th or 7th round. Ayedze is a solid player, at both blocking for the passing and run game. He is an athlete full of determination and any team that selects him will have a player that they can develop. He may not be a right-away starter for 2024, but he is someone that teams should take seriously.
Delmar Glaze
Delmar Glaze is the other offensive lineman to receive an invitation to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Glaze’s first season with Maryland was in 2020, he appeared in one game. Since then, he has earned 2022 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and 2023 Third Team All-Big Ten, according to University of Maryland Athletics. In 2023, Glaze allowed just nine QB hurries, two QB hits, and two sacks, according to NFL Draft Buzz. Playing against Penn State, Michigan, and Ohio State all teams will have top defenses, these are impressive statistics.
Glaze is a patient pass protector, which makes him a solid player. He could be quicker, but that is something that he can improve on. There will be many teams looking for help on the offensive line this year and those players will be picked up quickly. Expect Glaze to be a day-three pick in this year’s draft, but do not be surprised if he goes late on day two. This week’s combine will help determine where he goes this year.
Beau Brade
Defensive back, Beau Brade’s first season with Maryland was in 2020. Even as a freshman Brade made it onto the field. By 2023, Brade was named team captain and named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten, according to University of Maryland Athletics. In four years, the defensive back had three interceptions, 11 passes defended and three forced fumbles, according to Sports Reference. He also had 9.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Brade is a solid player to watch in this year’s Combine.
Brade will be a name to watch for on day two of the draft. His current, pre-combine, projection is in the fourth round, but he can improve his draft stock this week. Brade is a player who will only get better, and it can be expected that he will be on an NFL roster next season.
Tarheeb Still
Tarheeb Still is another defensive back who received an invitation to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Still’s first season with Maryland was in 2020, where he did appear in a couple of games. Since then, Still has earned 2023 Second Team All-Big Ten, according to University of Maryland Athletics. In his four years, Still has had six interceptions, 21 passes defended and two fumble recoveries, according to Sports Reference. He also has had nine tackles for loss and two sacks. Still has experience returning kicks and punts, which could prove useful for some teams.
Still will most likely not go as early in the Draft as Brade, but he will still be a name to watch. The corner is currently a day-three pick, sixth-round projection. Still has been starting with Maryland for multiple years, which does help his case to improve his draft stock, and already received an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl. Still will have another chance to show why teams should draft him this year.
These former Maryland players will get another chance to show NFL scouts why they should draft them. The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from February 27th until March 4th. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place from April 25th until April 27th.
