The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is a couple of days away, and there are a couple of Iowa players invited. The Iowa Hawkeyes did end in first in Big Ten West but struggled overall on offense. Throughout the season, there were a couple of players who stood out. Now, they will get a chance to improve their draft stock in the NFL Scouting Combine.

Iowa Players Invited to Scouting Combine

There are just three Iowa players invited to the Scouting Combine this year. The players will be organized in no particular order, as each athlete plays a different position. Check out their time at Iowa, as well as their current draft stock, pre-combine.

Erick All

Erick All is the next tight end coming out of Iowa. The Hawkeyes have produced some top tight ends, such as George Kittle and Sam LaPorta. All has played with the Hawkeyes for just this past season. His collegiate career began with the Michigan Wolverines, where he spent four years. This season he played in just seven games due to an injury. This injury may be what lowers his draft stock. In the seven games, All had 21 receptions for 299 yards and three touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. In five years of collegiate football, he had 75 receptions for 864 yards and five touchdowns.

All’s injury is a torn ACL. It ended his season in October. With teams not knowing how he will recover, it will most likely impact his draft stock. Luckily, he will have a chance to still get to know NFL coaches and staff, which can help improve his chances of being drafted. NFL scouts will get a chance to see how he is healing, and what his mentality is like getting back on the field. When All does get to play, he does well on the field. All is a receiving tight end and can do well with short-gain receptions. If he heals correctly, All could turn into a late-round steal, just as other former Iowa players turn out to be, though he probably will not be known as one of the top Iowa tight ends. Currently, All’s draft protection is in the seventh round.

Logan Lee

Logan Lee will have another chance to show NFL coaches and scouts why he deserves to be in the league. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lee participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl. He will get another chance to talk to scouts and coaches at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Lee is a defensive lineman from Iowa who will demonstrate why he should be drafted.

Lee spent four years with the Hawkeyes, only playing one game in 2020. Since then, Lee’s playing time increased. He has gone on to play in every game since. According to Sports Reference, Lee has had 158 combined tackles, 58 solo, 18.5 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. Lee has consistently had three sacks every year since 2021. He has also ended up with seven passes defended and recovered two fumbles.

Lee is a seventh-round projection in this year’s draft. He can also fall to be an undrafted free agent, but if that happens, expect him to sign to a team on the faster side. He can rotate on the defensive line, though mainly as a tackle, which can prove useful for a team. Lee is also still young and can develop into a stronger player. Lee being invited to the Shrine Bowl and now the Combine shows that he can be a name to watch on the third day of the NFL draft.

Tory Taylor

Punter Tory Taylor is another one of the Iowa players invited to the NFL scouting combine. Taylor’s first season with Iowa was in 2020. He played in eight games that season but has played in every game since. In his four years, Taylor has punted the ball 295 times, averaging 46.3 yards per punt according to Sports Reference.

The NFL Scouting Combine will be the time for Taylor to increase his draft stock. Taylor could actually go fairly early in the draft this year. His projection based on various NFL draft websites has him going between the third and fifth rounds. Is it possible he drops based on team needs? Of course, but it should not be surprising if you see his name called late on day two of the draft.

These are the three Iowa players to receive an invitation to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from February 27th until March 4th. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place from April 25th until April 27th.
