The Iowa Hawkeyes are 6-1 but have been hit with another injury on their offense. It has been announced that tight end Erick All will miss the remainder of the 2023 season. All tore his ACL during the game against Wisconsin. This is just a couple of weeks after quarterback Cade McNamara tore his ACL. Here is a look at what losing All means for this offense.

Erick All’s 2023 Season

This is All’s first season with the Iowa Hawkeyes. He first spent four years with the Michigan Wolverines. In 2023, he has played in all seven games so far, but unfortunately, that is all that he is going to get. This is a tough blow for a player in his fifth year.

In seven games, All has had 21 receptions for 299 yards and three touchdowns, according to Sports Reference. He’s averaged 14.2 yards per pass this season. This is a clutch player that the team will be losing. The Hawkeyes already had a weaker offense, another loss is going to hurt this team, who just reached six wins. All is also Iowa’s current receiving leader, and they will need to come up with a new game plan.

Impact on Iowa

Injuries happen in football, it is a part of the game. All teams understand this, but now without All, Iowa is down to their third Tight End. Luke Lachey is out for the remainder of the season as well, following surgery on his ankle. What hurts this team is that Lachey has been a part of just the first three games and still has the second-most receiving yards on the Hawkeye’s offense.

Iowa will need to find a way to incorporate their wide receivers more, as well as hope their other tight ends step up. It is always unfortunate that a player has to lose out on the rest of their season. Looking at this from a brighter note, some of the team’s younger players could possibly get their shot, and have it pay off. Iowa has had a history of producing strong tight ends, and the next big one could be able to get their chance.

Next on Iowa’s Schedule

Last weekend, the Iowa Hawkeyes officially became bowl-eligible. Next up they will face Minnesota, followed by their bye week. It is going to be a rough game for the Hawkeyes following these injuries, but the team does have a defense that can put up a fight. They will then have their bye to be able to regroup and finish out the season strong. Given their current record, they still have a chance to come out on top in the Big West. Injuries are the worst part of the sport, and hopefully, Erick All will have a successful recovery.
