Could one team’s loss be another team’s gain? The 2025 NFL Free Agency period begins in mid-March, and there will undoubtedly be a flurry of moves.
The Buffalo Bills will have to make some internal roster moves first to get under the salary cap in order to participate in free agency. This is a league rule all 32 teams must comply with.
Here’s one WR for the Buffalo Bills Josh Allen would like to see some roster changes made for:
Marquis “Hollywood” Brown- WR for the Buffalo Bills

If the percentage of Bills’ fans wanting to see Kansas City lose polled at 90-10 in favor of this, It wouldn’t be a shot. The other 10% must have hated Philadelphia more to have wanted the Chiefs to three-peat.
The Chiefs’ missing out on a three-peat may have benefited the Bills more than just the Eagles’ winning. They could be gaining WR Marquis “Hollywood” Brown.
The Chiefs are losing about 11 players to free agency, and Brown could be one of them.
The reason was that the Chiefs’ offensive line play was poorly executed against the Eagles’ defense, so they may be looking to release Brown to try to retool that position.
Additionally, Allen reportedly wants Brown to wear a Bills uniform next year and be in his huddle instead of Mahomes.
WR for the Buffalo Bills- Baltimore Ravens
Being the cousin of former Pittsburgh Steeler Antonio Brown, the Baltimore Ravens selected “Hollywood Brown” in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft.
He posted his best season in 2021, as he snagged a career-best 91 passes for 1,008 yards. This has been his only 1,000-yard season of his career to date.
In all three years with the Ravens, he tallied 195 catches for 2,361 yards for 21 total touchdowns in 46 games, despite the run-heavy offense.
Arizona Cardinals
Since then, he’s had an inconsistent career riddled with injuries. After playing in a run-heavy offense with the Ravens, Brown went to the Arizona Cardinals.
The talented receiver played there for two years with his old college signal caller, Kyler Murray.
He tallied 118 catches for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns in his two years there.
Kansas City Chiefs
Last offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him to a one-year $7 million deal in hopes of a three-peat.
Unfortunately, due to injury, Brown only played in the last two regular-season games and playoffs.
He went for 91 yards on nine catches with no touchdowns.
How Brown got his Nickname “Hollywood”
Originally from Hollywood, Florida, Brown earned his nickname from celebrated broadcaster Gus Johnson, who said, “Lights, Camera, Action, Hollywood Brown,” following a catch and run for a score by Brown.
Johnson revealed its unique use to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com:
“He went upfield, and I looked down and saw Marquis Brown, where is this kid from? Hollywood, Florida,” Johnson said. “I didn’t know if it was a fluke or something, this kid was so good. It was Marquise, M-A-R-Q, but I guess I hadn’t checked because he wasn’t on my radar, the coaches hadn’t talked about him, nothing… Because I couldn’t be sure if it was Mar-keese or Marcus. I was like, where is he from- Hollywood, I just started calling him Hollywood. OK, Hollywood. Go ahead.”
How Both QB and Receiving Core Will Benefit
If people think Allen benefits from having two key components on the field together, it goes both ways.
Khalil Shakir is a young receiver who brings his skill and athleticism, while Brown brings his speed and leadership experience, which opens up possibilities for Allen to use his strong arm.
When it’s all put together, you have a happy receiving core and a happy MVP quarterback.
With Free Agency just a few weeks away Spotrac estimates Browns’ salary to be around $8 million per year, so hopefully Allen will have some “pull” to make us ALL happy.
